British Curlies - All About Naturally Beautiful Curls

Angela Griffin Curl Icon

by Keisha Jo

Keisha Jo: Would you please share with our British Curlies members what it was like for you growing up with curly hair?

Angela: My mum has straight blond hair, so she didn't really know what to do with it.  I remember being clamped between her legs as she tried to get the knots out with an afro comb.  I hated having curly hair to be honest and desperately wanted a Farah Fawcett flick, impossible!

Keisha Jo: What was your favourite hairstyle as a teen?

Angela: As a teen I used to scrape my hair back into a bun and that's pretty much where it stayed until I was 16 and I joined Coronation Street.

Keisha Jo: Who if anyone did you have hair envy for growing up?

Angela: I was at school with Melanie Brown (Mel B from the Spice Girls), she was my hair envy.

Keisha Jo: Being an actress did you ever find your curly hair a hindrance to landing roles?

Angela: As far as I know, its never held me back.

Keisha Jo: Who inspired you to love your Curls?

Angela: My hairdresser, Junior Green, he finally showed me how to handle the madness that is my hair.

Keisha Jo: Your curls are amazing! What are your favourite products to use?

Angela: Paul Mitchell is definitely my product range of choice.  I can't live with out the Leave-in Conditioner and the Foaming Pomade.

Keisha Jo: Being a busy mum what is your Curly hair routine like these days?

Angela: Routine is still the same, wet every morning, pile with conditioner and pull back into a pony tail, unless I am at work and then it gets a comb in the shower and some pommade to finish it off. I try and put a treatment on once a week too.

Keisha Jo: Do you ever have days when you think okay it’s time to straighten your curls permanently?

Angela: Never!!!!!!!!!! Curls rule.

Keisha Jo: You have an amazing career and family how do you juggle all that you have on your plate?

Angela: I have a brilliant husband, who looks after the house and home whilst I am working. I literally couldn't live without him.

Keisha Jo: Of all the highlights of your career can you share with us a moment that stands out for you?

Angela: Winning a National Television Award for Best Newcomer was definite moment that stands out.  I was so shocked!

Keisha Jo: Do you have a salon that cuts your Curls?

Angela: Junior Green Hair and Beauty in Knightsbridge, London.

Keisha Jo: Do you have a Curl Stylist that you love?

Angela: Junior is the curl stylist to beat all curl stylists.

Keisha Jo: Your hair colour is incredible. What’s the secret to keeping it looking so healthy?

Angela: Trying to put a treatment on as often as possible.

Keisha Jo: Your daughter is adorable; it is a joy to see you both together. Do you think it is important to keep your curls in your role as Mum?

Angela: It's such a shame but neither of my kids have curls.  Maybe that might change as they grow older though. And there's always a perm!!!!

Keisha Jo: What projects have you got coming up?

Angela: I'm currently filming Waterloo Road, and then I'll be presenting a new daytime show for Sky 1 in November called Angela and Friends.

Keisha Jo: What do you think of our site www.britishcurlies.co.uk?

Angela: Fab, fab, fab.

Keisha Jo: Have you got any Curl Wisdom you would like to share with our British Curlies members?

Angela: Never brush it dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
