British Curlies - All About Naturally Beautiful Curls

Curly Hair Cut Winner

by Keisha Jo

I have always been a bit distrustful of hairdressers ever since I was about 12 years old and my Dad took me into a new salon, asked them to cut and dry my hair and left me in their capable hands. When he came back to collect me, he was horrified to see what they’d done to me. My hair all over the place and frizz was settling in so needless to say he didn’t pay them and took me straight home so that my mother could do some damage control. For this reason, I only go to the hairdresser when I go home (South Africa) and at best that’s once a year. I’ve been going to the same hairdresser since I was 20 (I’m 34 now) and give her sufficient notice once I’ve booked my ticket.
That was the first bad experience, there have been others and this is also the reason why I used henna to colour my hair…the thought of placing my hair in the hands of someone else is a little scary.
This is why I’d love the opportunity to win a hair cut from the curl genius himself. Who better to put my trust in? With my wedding coming up in 74 days (31 July is the big day), I’ve been researching different salons and stylists (which is how I found the British Curlies site) to find someone to cut my hair - the ends are a bit dry and there’s no shape as my last haircut was in Feb 2009 (our last trip to SA). In fact, I’ve had recommendations from a few people but they don’t have curly hair and so didn’t understand why I’m so reluctant to just walk into a salon and get my hair cut. I guess it’s even more of an issue because of the wedding and I don’t want to be a bride with misshapen hair - and I want to show off my curls on my big day
This is really a once in a lifetime opportunity!
Attached is a pic showing what my hair looked like last week (taken 11 and 14 May).
Thanks for your time Ladies.
