Curly Hair New Year Resolutions

by Keisha Jo

Walking around the high streets you will no doubt be bombarded with ways to be a new you. An improved you, a slimmer you but at the end of the day it should really be a contented you! Finding contentment in the look and feel of your hair can have a positive effect in so many rippling ways. Just the knowledge of what your hair likes, how to style your hair and having a routine that works takes so much stress and anxiety out of our day to day existence.

So what are your plans for your curls for 2011?

  • Why not take some time to scan your bathroom shelves and cupboards and clear out all the products that you just did not get on with in 2010. Swap them or give them away to friends and family.
  • Make a chart for your bathroom Sunday-Monday and plot what you will use on your hair and scalp for each day. Highlight your wash days and deep treatment days. Put this next to your bathroom mirror if you can.
  • Being organised takes the stress out of the morning rush!
  • Set monthly goals for yourself whether it is to do at least one deep treatment or to learn one new way of styling your curls.
  • Take a picture of your hair this month and put it next to your chart. A working visual is always useful.
  • Think about the things that frustrated you last year and find resolutions. Useful areas of research are the amazing curly hair community on YouTube and our Curl Forum here at British Curlies.

Finally enjoy the fresh start there will always be challenges to face but with a positive attitude you won’t be down for long!
