British Curlies - All About Naturally Beautiful Curls
Many women and girls don't realize it, but loving their curls will bring them one step closer to loving and having confidence in themselves. In an age of botox and plastic surgery, many women lose sight of the fact that we are all beautiful in our own way, whether we have naturally curly hair or not. Embracing being a Curlie means accepting yourself, natural curls and all. Therefore, instead of spending hundreds of pounds getting chemical relaxers and buying straightening products, you could choose to find the perfect curly hair care products to make your curls look beautiful with minimal effort.
If you didn't already know, there are fantastic products designed just for Curlies that will make curls shinier and more beautiful without having to spend much time on them. All it takes is an occasional deep conditioning treatment, a curl friendly shampoo and great curly hair styling product to ensure that you have more of a 'wash and go' type of hairstyle to suit your hectic lifestyle. If you have naturally curly hair and you spend hours upon hours in a week straightening and going against the grain of your natural hair type, it's no wonder you are sick of your curls! Make a resolution to yourself to try work with your curls. By doing that, you will invite the envy of many onlookers throughout your day.
Do you know that many women with straight hair get perms to make their hair have the same characteristics as your naturally curly hair? Curly hair is a highly desired look for many women because it is ultra feminine and romantic. In addition, some of the most influential models and movie stars have naturally curly hair that they have learnt to embrace. Their naturally curly hair has allowed them to stand out in the crowd because of the rarity and beauty of their curly tresses in an industry full of cookie cutter straight hair girls.
Are we saying that you should never temporarily straighten your hair? Of course not. It can be fun to experiment with different looks and styles; that is only natural. However, through it all, try to remember that being a Curlie is like having a special pass to a very exclusive club. Make sure that you can keep your curls looking as gorgeous as possible with the lovely curl friendly products we have made available to you in our Curly Emporium.
Remember also that loving and embracing your curls starts young. If you have children with naturally curly hair, teach them early how to care for their curls and to get the most out of their hair from the beginning. Make sure that when they begin complaining about their curly hair (as I'm sure they will; haven't we all?) you bring them to our site to show them the kind of pride they should have in their curls. Show them the celebrity Curlies who have achieved success with their naturally curly hair too! Help them understand what Curl Type they are and what they can do to make their curls look truly beautiful every day.
And most importantly let your little Curlies know they are beautiful just the way they are.
Do you know what else you could do? Compliment a fellow Curlie sometime. Walk right up to them, whether you know them or not, and tell them their hair is extraordinary. You will no doubt make their day, but that's not all that will happen. By making an affirmation to another person, you are, at the same time, making an affirmation to yourself.
If you are ready to embrace your curls and make them even more manageable and super soft, browse through our careful selection of silk pillowcases to reduce frizz while you sleep, Curl-ease Curl Towels for an easy and natural drying process, and our curl specific products, from conditioners to shampoos and great styling products. You will be loving your curly hair in no time.
Next time you are at the hair salon and someone compliments you on your beautiful curly hair, the conversation will go more like this:
"You have such great curly hair!"
"Thank you...I love my curls as well."

I have naturally thick curly hair, when I was young my mum used to send me to the hairdressers for a short razor cut, very painful!! And yes, everyone used to say ‘what lovely curly hair you have and I wanted to swap for lovely long straight hair!! as a teenager I used to spend hours with friends using a home perm to straighten my hair, I hated it, then when I married, had kids, I used to go to the hairdressers, i asked, ‘what can you do for me?@ they would say ‘nothing really, you have curly hair’ so I used to get it professionally straightened, then on my 50th birthday, I thought, that’s it, I have naturally curly hair and I want to show it off, luckily I found a hairdresser who understood, so after all the years of straightening it, I have a very thick head of very tight curls!! it’s such a shame all the years of abuse & bad advise, I’m sure I would have lovely long curly hair now.

I totally agree that if you are complimented on your hair, it really makes your day. Because I have naturally curly hair, the most often asked question I am asked is “is it permed or natural?” I, too, think that curls look feminine and romantic and on the odd occasion that my hair is straight, I always want to get back to my curls as I think they suit me better. (I can’t imagine many cherubs in Heaven with a harp in one hand and a pair of GHD’s in the other!!)

When shampooing, remember that the thicker the hair, the longer you need to rinse in order to remove all the shampoo.

I totally agree! I think most curlies have moments of ‘frustration’ with their hair. I know I do..However, I love the fact that I don’t have to worry about getting my hair wet in order to keep a relaxer looking good/constantly straightening the roots/tonging… I could go on and on. Curls are sexy and I’ve learnt to love. Whenever I have moments of doubts, I come on here to remind myself of how lovely us curlies all are.
