Meet British Curlies Contributor Belle!

Gone are the days of trying to fit in and being one of the crowd trying very hard not to fit in, I was a rebel; I had a nose ring and everything. I got myself a boyfriend with locks and I shaved off my hair I had arrived I was a non conformist and I had no idea what it meant.
Fast forward a few years the 18 year old girl is now a 24 year old woman, the "black girl uniform” of processed hair is back and I'm wondering who I am and why I need a disguise. So for the second time I shaved off my hair (what I later will learn is called a BC) this was the beginning of my journey into natural hair; firstly by embracing mine and finally by sharing the journey with others.
I have been fully natural since 2008, I big chopped in January and have not looked back, during my journey I have embraced many natural styles from a TWA to a curly afro to kinky twists and even shaving various parts of my hair clean off. In the three years I've been natural it's safe to say I'm a product junkie and natural hair enthusiast dare we say obsessive. In 2010 I shaved off my Hair again for the last time, this would be big chop number 3, I tend to big chop in order to cleanse my soul, this time round I'm no longer obsessed with length or curl pattern but thick healthy hair. I am again sporting a TWA, my daily routine is just to work some Darcy's Botanicals hair milk into my hair and fluff it out.
My must have moisturisers are shea butter, coconut oil and water, simple but effective things.
When I'm feeling fancy I use Darcy's Botanicals curling jelly to create gel twists. I'm a huge fan of protective styling and I've been wearing head wraps for almost a month to protect my hair during the winter months.
I really enjoying this stage of my natural hair and my best tip for anyone who is starting out on this journey it would be to embrace every stage. Even if you main goal is bra strap length hair enjoy everything leading up to it.
A few months after my first big chop I started Naturalbelle, initially to keep me motivated during my hair journey I was disappointed by the lack of natural hair resources in the mass media, so in an attempt to educate myself I started to surf the Internet. 3 years on and I'm still being inspired and hopefully inspiring others. Natural belle focuses on natural hair in media and fashion for women and a few men who embrace there natural beauty.
