British Curlies - All About Naturally Beautiful Curls

Read The Science of Black Hair

by Keisha Jo

I would like to add that anyone with coarse textured hair of whatever race will find serious gems of wisdom in fully understanding why their hair behaves the way it does and what you can do to make a significant difference in the way you handle your hair and implement a good routine for optimum results.

At the end of the day your hair is your hair. Aspiring to manipulate and change your natural texture will only lead to disappointment and feelings of inferiority. Instead I encourage you to fully embrace your hair and learn what works best for your natural texture and this is a fantastic tool to use.

The Science of Black Hair does cover relaxers and that is the only issue I have with this book. I fully skipped past those sections and totally focused on all the more useful sections like:

Unit 1:  Which covers such topics as Elasticity and Textured Fibres’, Hair Porosity, PH Balance and Water Issues.

Unit 2: Understanding Hair Growth and Damage for Healthier Hair Care looking at Chemical, Physical and Environmental  Damage.

This book also helps you to build a hair care regimen and offers product selections as well so it takes the mystery out of the whole process for you.

At the end of the day knowledge is power and if you are truly committed to making a difference and knowing how the choices you make affects your hair then get this book you will not regret it.
