Summer Curl Refreshers!

by British Curlies

One of the easiest recipes for a homemade hair spritz is just 1 part conditioner to 7 parts water distilled water or filtered tap water. Mix in a spray bottle and spray on your dry hair before styling. Try not to use this every day, as the conditioner will start to build up and may clog hair follicles if you don’t wash your hair frequently. This is great for poolside or beach hair. You can use Swimmers Conditioner for even better protection.

Another recipe for very dry curls is to use conditioner but add oils as well. In an 8 ounce spray bottle, combine 2 tablespoons of a conditioner specially made for dry hair. Add 2 tablespoons of olive or castor oil such as Hairveda CoCasta Shikakai Oil. Fill with distilled water or filtered tap water. This will hydrate more than just using a conditioner only spritz and will give weight your curls.

Or try an infusion with Chamomile tea. Place the tea in a glass bowl and pour boiling water over the tea. Let steep for a few minutes and strain tea leaves. When cool pour into a spray bottle. Chamomile adds shine and naturally detangles fine curly hair add a few drops of your favourite essential oil for a lovely fragrance to your curls.

For a more intense Chamomile infused spritz, follow the directions above and add a drop of vegetable glycerin or honey. Both glycerin and honey pull moisture from the air and bring it to the hair. Shake to mix well. Enjoy.

Hello, thanks for this great article. There’s the reference to swimmers conditioner but the link goes to the spray bottle. What is swimmers conditioner? I recently started swimming and my hair can do with a little more TLC. Thanks smile

great article!
my summer spritz
aloe Vera juice
water
olive oil
mix together and spray as often as needed. this is a good spritz for me as i suffer with mild psoriasis of the scalp and i find that the aloe Vera juice soothes my scalp. olive oil penetrates the hair shaft and coconut oil binds with the proteins in your hair making it not only strong but moisturized as well. these two oils are great for the hair whatever the your hair type.

I use burdock root spritz, finds this is a really good refresher! Going to try putting a bit og agave or glycerin in though, I hope it doesnt cause me to go a frizzy mop though!

Thanks for this article, its great!

Hi Michelle

Aubrey Organics do a Swimmers Shampoo and a Swimmers Conditioner.  I know that these products are used quite often by Naturals.  Hoe that this helps.
