British Curlies - All About Naturally Beautiful Curls
If you have curly hair and you are thinking about getting highlights put in, there are a few definite things you'll want to avoid. Curly hair is more challenging than straight hair in the way that it needs to be cut and colored. Therefore, if you ask for the wrong type of highlights, you will not be happy with the result.
For the most beautiful and natural looking sunkissed curls, you will want to get highlights that blend well into your hair. This means that chunky highlights are out. This type of highlights were popular in thbe late 90s when it was cool to look like a skunk. However, it is not cool anymore, and what's more, it can look even worse if you have curly hair. If you are going to a hairdresser for the first time make sure to reiterate that you want blended highlights, not chunky.

If you have dark hair, avoid extreme blonds. Instead, go a half step up from your color and add some golds and reds to really get a shiny look. If you have light colored hair, go crazy with extreme light and ashy blonds because this will enhance your entire look. Some blonds choose to add golden or strawberry tones sporadically to really bring out the shine in their hair. After getting the highlights, finish your look with a curl enhancer and smoother and blow-dry with a diffuser. This will make your hair appear softer and avoid the dreaded frizzy look, which is also not cool. Finish with a medium hold hairspray and there you have it: Beautiful, sunkissed curls that shine all day long!
