Hi Everyone,
have been lurking around the forum for some time getting lots of useful advice and tips. Not to mention some great products to use on my very thick/coarse 3b/c hair. For the first time in my life I can say I love my curly hair and have given away my straighteners. I have even been passing on the curly girl philosphy wherever & whenever the opportunity arises.

I am an Aussie and after 9 years in the UK am moving back home. I have looked on the web to see if there is any british curlies type australian website but alas there does not seem to be. I will be living around the Gold Coast area and am keen to find a good hairdresser and to find out what CG friendly products are easy to get that work in a hot humid climate.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Ok, getting ahead of myself a little bit here but need to cheer myself up!

Today I am booking flights to my friends place in Italy, on the east coast, fairly near Pescara. I am going mid July so its going to be quite hot and need to decide on which products I need to take for my hair to be perfect!

Usually when I go on holiday, the humidity takes over and I look like a baffoon! To be fair, when I last went on holiday to a hot country, I wasn’t CG and straigtened it for about an hour with my GHDs, only for me to be outside for 5 mins and my hair be really thick, poof out and go all kinky and curly.

Now I dont want the poof frizzy lion mane look in Italy (usually end up wearing hair up on holiday as its too much of a pain), so can anyone advise on what sorts of products I need to use out there and give examples please?

Thank you ever so much!

I know Oz has a store specifically for hair prods called price attack or price line. Not sure Abt NZ tho

Hi Guys,

I’m new to the forum and this is my second post, lol so bear with me if i dont understand some of the lingo. where do i start i’ve been natural for 2 years now, grew out my relaxed hair done my big chop and my hair is now armpit length so i’ve been very happy withthe progress.

I think the hardest part for me being someone who was relaxed for so long is learning how to deal with my hair in its natural state, i love my new found curls and thickness as the relaxer was beginning to thin my hair. i guess for me i like to change my hair up which made permed hair bliss for me as well as how easy and quick it was to wash.

I’m going to Barbados in 5 months and i’m already dreading it! not the holiday of course!!! but the constant hait battle, i’m still in the process of learning to manage my hair, but ii went to amsterdam last year and thought that would be a good time to unleash my fro, the first night was great but the second night i wet it and put gelinit hoping to have a twist out but there wasnt enough time to make it dry and needless to sayit was a nightmare. i dont like cornrows or twists as the dont suit me.

I’ll be going Barbados for the carnival and can imagine being in the sea and it getting wet, can anyone give me any tips. Maybe i’m doing something wrong but i cant style my hair wet, as in put it in a bun like some other women can do… :-(

Hi. Soon i’m setting of to Puerto Rico in Gran Carnaria.
But i’m just wondering about one thing. Before and on the plain i’m going to wear my hair in braids, for a braid out for the first day there or so.

But i dont know what to do from there the other days, do you have some tips for hair care when you also are swimming and so and how i could do a good wash&go; there or a braid out? I do often wear my hair in buns, so on my vacca i would like to wear some down & out styles, with out causing to much damage, and my hair is past shoulder length/armpit length when stretched and is type 4a.

What does everyone do with their hair when they’ve got an ultra-dry plane trip to deal with? Any tips?

I tried leaving a LOT of leave in in and using protective styling, but the plane got the better of me in the end, and I ended up really dried out for a while. I feel like maybe you need to create some sort of sturdy seal on the cuticle, but I’m not entirely sure how that could be done without resorting to cones. Anyone have any ideas?

I don’t intend to fly in the next few months but I thought this might be a handy forum to have before holiday-season really kicks in.

My hair is (unfortunately) texturised-it was done by my mother when I was a child- but now that I’m moving to Thailand it doesn’t seem like the best time to transition back to my natural hair as I’m going straight into a teaching job and don’t want any additional stress.

At home, I alternate between blow drying my hair straight and washing it, conditioning then scrunching to produce curls. Annoyingly, due to the damage chemicals have done to my hair, the curls easily brush out so I need to wet my hair each morning to maintain the curls.
Does anyone have any tips on what to put on my hair/how to style it in order to maintain the curlyness?

Hi everyone,
The biggest problem for me is what to do with my hair on holidays especially ones abroad that involve lots of humidity and swimming! Does anyone have a regime they use for holidays? I always find my hair goes crazy and I end up packing more products than boots stocks just to deal with it! certainly not good for my baggage allowance lol! Also im constantly washing my hair to get rid of chlorine after swimming does anyone have an alternative idea?
