London Meet-up

Hi ladies,

I havent been on here for awhile, life has just been so busy, but im back and keen on sharing and learning about natural hair, the wonders and the nightmares. With this in mind, i was really thinking about organising a London meet-up, i am involved in a few of the natural hair facebook groups, but always seem to miss the meet=ups.

Is this something you guys would be interested in, i just think it wold begreat to meet some of the lovely ladies on the forum and be able to put a name to a face, kink, curl or coil. As much as i enjoy the forum, i just think it would be nice to share our stories face to face and possibly have a product swap/sale…i dunno lol

For those of you who are interested, it wold be great iof you could post your responswes with the area you live in and a venue you could recommend. I will then look at the answers, come up with a few in central and we can then take a vote.

Hair and work outs

I work out Mon,Tues,Thurs Is it necessary to co wash after each class? I sometimes just rinse my hair under the shower then apply leave in. Is it okay to co wash frequently?

Keeping my 4c curls at 3c texture by braiding

Hello,
I wonder if anyone could advise me…

I have long and thick 4b/c Afro hair. I usually wear it in braids or cornrows. I have noticed that immediately after out my braids, my hair is of a lovely, soft, manageable texture. Easy to comb, thinner and with a more wavy appearance. Like 3c. As soon as I deep treat and wash, days after, my hair has shrunk, lost its length and it quite honestly unbearably thick. It’s like a Jackson 5 Afro and it gives me a headache when forced back into one. Even when its in braids, its not like i moisturise and wash regularly. It is still soft, as I use products highly recommended from this site, but my hair curls are not as light and wavy.

So why is the texture so different? I need to wash my hair after braids as its dirty, but it spoils the more manageable curls I had. Any quick way of getting back that finer texture after a wash ladies? This problem is making me dislike my hair!

Wash and Go Maintenance

I’m looking for a low-maintenance method for maintaining a wash and go. Hopefully one that isn’t too crazy looking too…I really don’t want to sleep in a shower cap! Any ideas?

Why do people keep asking me if I want to do my hair??

I don’t know whether I should be offended or….? but whenever I happen to be strolling into a hair shop or even if family friends just come round to my house or whatever, people always! ask me what i’m gonna do with my hair to which i reply ‘what i’m doing now!’ geez since when was just letting my hair be such a crime lol… I think it might be a nigerian thing where hair always has to be ‘done’ but its still kind of annoying… I mean just walking up lewisham highstreet people were touting salon business my way…. I can’t wait til this fro gets a lot bigger so I can have much more in your face ‘undone’ hair muhaha

Single Braids: Any recommendations?

I’ve been considering getting single braids for some time now, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a reputable stylist or hairdressers.
Also, if you’ve had box braids before I’d love to hear your experiences.

Products without Glycerine?

My daughter’s staples are Tigi Let it Be Cherry Almond leave in and Olive Eco styler. Just lately her hair is frizzing up so I thought it might be because those 2 products have Glycerine. Can anyone recommend any high street or BSS products that are good for winter? Can’t afford prices in the Emporium anymore and didn’t get the Black Friday email anyway.

She has 3c fine strands but very coily, with shrinkage.
