you can also get this in savers if you have one in your local town.

I don’t have a savers near me either, lol :( but I saw that you wrote that you can get it from Boots, and there’s one local to me. Might have to try a bigger Boots, because I don’t think my local one stocks it.

I think I wrote boots in error and actually meant to write savers, but its worth looking as I can’t remember if they sell it or not in boots.

If I only had to have one product this would be it.  I can use it as co wash, rinse out, leave in and curl reviver.  I love it!  It does have kind of a fake coconutty smell though, this would be the only downside.

I don’t know why I don’t stick with it all the time though.  I suppose in my mind cheap=crap.  I so need to get over that!

It only costs about €2 in Ireland for that huge big bottle, which is like practically nothing!

I was also a product snob before going CG - I hadn’t bought high street hair stuff since my teens! There is no doubt that some of it is full of harsh stuff (SLS etc) and they can be loaded with parabens but IMHO lot of the cheaper conditioners are fine - especially if they’re just for cowashing. They tend not to have a ton of the more expensive ingredients sure - but my hair is better off with a cheaper conditioner for cowashing, than the expensive shampoos I was buying before.

I think it’s a bit like buying make-up - spend money on the important things, eg foundation and save on the less important eg mascara, kohl etc. Cheap for cowash and a bit pricier for moisturising grin

Yep, and it seems to be working! smile
Which reminds me, I need to do a review on some deep conditioner.

I love this conditioner - I’ve had some really bad protein build up recently and switched to using this as a co-wash and it’s been wonderful.  I also occasionally use it when doing spritz-and-condish (a DT before co-washing), and it works nicely.

I will say, I do love the smell - reminds me of toasted marshmallows - but I can see how someone might find it irritating because it is strong.

I thought I’d try this product as a cheaper alternative to my regular co-wash conditioners, however the problem with Inecto is the smell. Since I started using this product, it has left my hair smelling awful (like vomit sick ) so I’ve now stopped using it altogether.

Like vomit?  Really?!  That’s seriously crap - maybe you got a bad bottle. :-(

(or are you lucky enough to have vomit that smells like toasted marshmallows?)

Its really strange because a lot of my products are coconut scented/contain coconut oil so I didn’t think it would be a problem.
Maybe it was too much in conjunction with the rest of my products, as I did notice more build-up than usual when I used Inecto.

gulp

Methylchloroisothiazolinone (and) methylisothiazolinone

(MCl/MI ; Kathon CG, Euxyl K100)

The isothiazolinones are, perhaps the most potent allergens on the consumer market. They are very effective preservatives. However, under suitable dilution and exposure conditions, even the most potent allergen can be used safely.

The commercial product (Kathon CG) contains only 1.5% of the active ingredients (the ratio of which is 3:1) with the remainder being water and magnesium salts that stabilise the system. Methylchloroisothiazolinone is the more potent allergen of the active components.

The patch test concentration of the actives is 100ppm in water.

The preservative was responsible for an epidemic of contact sensitivity, in some geographical areas, in the 1980s and early 1990s. Problems occurred mostly when the preservative was used in leave-on products at concentrations higher than 15ppm. It is now mainly used in rinse-off products at lower levels (up to 15ppm but usually <10ppm). At these lower levels and use conditions, the prevalence of hypersensitivity is acceptably low and individuals allergic to the preservative may tolerate rinse off products (eg shampoos) preserved with it.

The patent on the original system is expiring. New systems may be introduced that are stabilised with other salts (copper) or contain the less allergenic fraction methylisothiazolinone.

Methylchloroisothiazolinone (and) methylisothiazolinone is the INCI name for the preservative and this is the name that must appear on cosmetic ingredient listing in the European and USA markets if a product contains it. Therefore, it is easy to determine consumer exposure (qualitative) to the preservative from use of cosmetic products. The absence of any meaningful ingredient listing on household products means that qualitative assessment of exposure from such sources cannot be made.

As the preservative is now essentially used only in rinse off products, any dermatitis with relevance to contact allergy to it will affect those areas mostly exposed to rinse off products: head, and hands. Labelling permits qualitative assessment of exposure to some product types that may contain it. There is no easy mechanism to assess quantitative exposure; it is exposure to an allergen in dose per unit area that is of pivotal importance for induction and elicitation. Because of this, for an individual allergic to the preservative, it is most practical to simply avoid using products identified as containing the preservative from the label. Levels of the allergen in a product may be too low to be able to elicit a reaction but the level will not be known.

check out this site girlies…

does this mean it would not be wise to use this as a leave-in in case after a while you might develop contact dermatitis on ur scalp?

Not ‘cones tho’ - so CG. Not sure about the contact allergen aspect. If you have sensitive skin, or are prone to determatitis/eczema then you could look into further.
