Might not seem like a big deal to others…but this weekend I’m going to meet all of my bf’s close friends and siblings, all at once, for the first time. I am terrified. It’s for his bday, it’s a surprise dinner that I have organised with his best friend that I do know.

Anyone have any tips or anything just to calm me down.
I just want to fade into the background that night, but I can’t do that, as I’m the one bringing him to the surprise and making the cake and stuff. I’m sooooooooo nervous, I feel sick thinking about it all. I just want to hurl.

What to wear?
Any suggested curly hairstyles?

And then remember that they’re there for your bf - so they won’t be too busy scrutinising you. If you think about, it’s actually pretty cool getting to meet them at an informal gathering.

Imagine if you had to meet them specially at a dinner or something….

Anyhoo, I’m just rambling. I’m sure you’ll be fine. If you start to worry, just try and focus on making it the best party for your bf to take your mind off it :D

Im dying to know… how did it go!!!!? 

I had a similar experience with my bf’s family…... nobody warned me the gran was super traditional and i turned up in short rah rah skirt and knee high boots looking a little too like a hooker lol   everyone else had shin length laura ashley type numbers on just for the occasion.  

Ironically I think she respected me for not trying to fit in!  Was a hoot a minute

Omgsh, well done for getting through it! And yaaaay! It all worked out in the end!! Wohoooooo!

Mine went well too thanks, everyone seemed to like me including his Mum and sister. His friends were nice too, they were sayings things like ‘we’re happy you two are together’ etc, ‘we like you…’ lol. So aaaall is good with them. Still a bit tip toey around his Mum though lol…as I haven’t quite figured out whether she likes me or not, only met her twice. Yesterday was the second time actually…she seems lovely anyway.
But on that particular day I spent the whole evening talking with his sister [who’s 8yrs older than me]. So, I think I have her approval.

It’s funny how nervous we can get or change in behaviour [less touching ie hugging, holding hands etc]...well I do anyway.

Im good thanks I just found a new job so Im getting excited at the thought of starting soon! 

Im so glad it went well with the family…. definately sounds like you scored high on popularity, esp with his sister, who i have no doubt will be reporting back to Mum   so youre in!!

My OH’s Mum was well strange with me at first…. one minute really friendly.. next really off….it made me insane worrying for about a year or two and then I just thought…y’know what im nice and i dont care what she thinks and the minute I did that she was amazing!!! LOL

I must have been trying too hard and acting fake without realizing….so there’s a tip I was just so nervous she wouldnt like me. Now Im watching the same thing happen with his little brothers girlfriend   Im staying out of it!!
