Well, it’s transition time of year - which means oddityofwings’s hair FREAKS OUT.  Dry dry dry but easily overconditioned and hating protein for no reason except my hair is being awkward.  I’d been using Suave+MopTop+BCLI+CCCC+FD gel all summer without any problems, and the other day - bam!  Dryness and horribleness.

So - I’ve decided to be less panicky about it than other years and switch out my major source of protein for something else and nix the aloe-based gels.  So today - Suave+CR+more CR+CCCC+BRHG.  That way I’ve got my protein (silk, mostly, which my hair rarely has issues with), but I’ve also got a moisture boost in the middle and no aloe in the end to dry me out.  So far the curls are nice.  Little crunchier than I’d like, but I’d forgotten just how soft a gel FD is (by which I mean it crunches out really easily - BRHG tends to leave a bit of gunky feeling behind).

I’m about to make my first Emporium order since May (!!!!)... anything new that’s got people buzzing, or shall I stick to my tried and testeds?

Chopped 4 inches off my hair on Friday - my head feels SO much lighter and is no longer absolutely drinking product.  Yay!  I think I shall keep it this length (approx. 3 inches below shoulders when wet/straight, an inch below shoulders when curly) for a while now.  It was nice to have it long, but it was too unpredictable - and it was getting to the length where if I slept on it, I occasionally ended up pinned to the bed by it!

Wow.  Been a while.  Been busy - got married, passed my Viva (yep, that’s Dr Oddityofwings to you! ... er, well, after graduation in the summer, it will be…), and sent off my visa application so I can stay with my husband in the UK (and wearing a hole in the floor waiting to hear back about it).

I’ve been doing the sort of same-old routine with my hair, so nothing interesting to report on that side of things.  The only discovery I’ve made is that BRHG doesn’t like my winter hair for some reason.  Either I’m using it wrong or using too much - it goes on okay but I get slight flash-drying (why?!) and then my hair’s a bit matted and less bouncy for the day.  Because it’s not been super cold here I haven’t had much cause to experiment with it because it’s been warm enough to just use CIAB or FD gel.

But other than that - hi.  I’m back.  For a bit, anyway. grin  Anything new and cool going on hereabouts?

Thanks, Keisha Jo!  Am not sure about the settling thing yet - still waiting to hear back from the UK Border Agency.  We should be fine as we tick all the boxes (though they’ve just today announced changes to said boxes, so who knows!), but it seems like they’re trying to reject as many people as possible to meet immigration targets.  So I’m just sitting tight and trying not to worry (too much!).

Excellent news.

Signature

Curly end of wavy. I get chunky ringlets and some elongated S shapes.  Fairly dense, medium texture, medium porosity.

Rotation is key for me.  Get on well with most Curl Junkie products especially CQ, CIAB, PP for stylers, Hard hold gel on top; usually BRHG.  Also CJ protein treatments.
Other stuff B&A Gel, EO conditioners, GFRS, Hairveda Sitrinnillah, Joico K-Pak reconstruct, Afroveda TT and CL butters.
