Thought I’d start a thread on this topic - could be relevant if we get any summer!

I use this site to check the dews for the day - ‘tis updated regularly:

http://www.wunderground.com/global/Region/i_UK/Dewpoint.html

My thoughts on dews at the moment are that my hair is affected more by rainy days than humid summer days. That could be because we get more rainy days here in the UK. I shall endeavour to update my thoughts here as the months progress!

http://uk.weather.com/ also updates throughout the day.

I’d forgotten how important dewpoint was until we actually had one worth talking about!  Holy moley it’s warm and humid today!

Can’t work out how to get the dewpoint up on this site.

Just enter your postcode - it’ll take you to the page for your area, which should have a dewpoint listed on it, underneath humidity and so forth.  I think it comes up in Celsius, so there’s a little link that says C to F on the upper right beneath the banner that can switch to Fahrenheit for you.

I think this is a really relevant topic cos I’m new to wearing my hair wavy/curly and I’ve not really figured out how to cope with wet or humid weather yet. We had 91% humidity in Belfast yesterday and my hair had frizz that I just couldn’t get rid of, even with AVG and anita grant pomade. It had never occurred to me that humidity might have been a contributing factor - I’ll be keeping an eye on the dewpoints from now on smile

Mines coming up at 54…but I googled the observation station and its 50 miles away from the town I typed in. So probably not too accurate, as apparently its also raining (and trust me, its not, I’m outside with the laptop sunbathing smile )

LOL, you made me giggle smile

I decided to do some googling too - the observation station the BBC weather website uses is 13 miles away from Belfast so I won’t pay much attention to that smile

The Weather Channel website uses an observation station in Belfast harbour - I’m more inclined to go with the Weather Channel - plus it gives dew point info and the BBC doesn’t seem to.

I’ve really noticed a difference in my hair the last few days - and none of it is good!! The curl pattern is less pronounced (more like a 2b!) and have a ton of frizz and a pouffy/fluffy thing going on. Could it be the weather? Could it be products? It looks and feels so different I’m begining to wonder whether I’m over conditioned (this would be a BIG first!!) Any thoughts/ideas gratefully received!  smile

Edit: Just to add - it feels soft yet dryish over canopy and canopy ends - bizarre!

I’d expect it to be the weather mainly - it’s a lot more humid now than it’s been in a long while!

The soft/dry thing is weird, though - I’d expect humidity just to cause general frizz.  How’s your elasticity?  Been using lots of emollients or lots of protein recently?  It may well be overconditioning if your curls are looser and your hair’s really soft - but the dryness is odd to me since OCing would suggest *too* much moisture and dryness would suggest not enough.  *flummoxed*  confused

I would think its weather related too Ct - have you used anything different product wise?

Well - I have been using the Inecto condish to cowash for quite a while now. Stopped last week and went back to FiN.

I decided to use the Daily Fix to cowash this evening and an ACV rinse, which I haven’t done in ages. This seems to have improved things quite a bit! I’m wondering if I’ve been getting build up of some kind? I can’t think what might be building up in my hair tho’!

My hair felt instantly cleaner after using the Daily Fix - I used a good amount and emulsified with a lot of water until I had a creamy lather. I worked it thru my length and left it for 2 mins before rinsing. Hair felt much cleaner but still soft. Hair still felt soft after the ACV rinse too. Followed with SheaM, Mango butter to seal, FSG and FDGel. Hair def firmer and curlier with minimal frizz! I am relieved! I’m sure the weather has something to do with it too tho’.
