Hey everyone!  I’m a US curly that’s going to London this Saturday until July…..I just realized the conditioner I use has been discontinued and I’m looking for something to replace it with…I figured I would just go to Boots when I get there this weekend so I can have more room in my luggage…do you girls have any suggestions for a relatively cheap conditioner that works pretty good?  And how’s the weather over there?  I hear that it rains periodically throughout the day, and was wondering how curly hair worked with that?  Thanks for any suggestions you may have! smile

I thought I heard my ears ringing! :-D

Original Source can be bought at Boots, Superdrug, many supermarkets, and some budget stores like Savers or Wilkinson’s.  It is roughly comparable to Suave, as Mich says.  Garnier Repair and Shine is also good, but it’s sort of a light version of Triple Nutrition from what I hear.  Inecto Pure Coconut Oil Conditioner (only the conditioner) is also really good - protein free as well.  It’s a little harder to come by - in my city I can only find it at Savers.  The Naked line of conditioners are also pretty good.  They’re only available at Boots and are a little more expensive than the OS or Inecto (I think they’re about £3.50 for a 250 ml tube, but it’s still cheaper than most of what you’d get online!).  A lot of what’ll work well depends greatly on your hair’s needs, but from what I can tell there are very few people that don’t like these products.

I don’t live too far from London and so have very similar weather - it’s been warm (for here - maybe mid to upper 70s), and middling humid.  At the moment it’s cooled off but it’s supposed to warm up in the coming days.  The dewpoints and humidity haven’t particularly high yet.  Most of us just use a gel for hold when it’s humid, just as you would in the US.  My hair likes the humidity and actually defrizzes when it rains, but I’ve heard I’m abnormal like that. grin

Hope you enjoy your time in London!

I don’t live too far from London either, and the humidity has been fairly high for the last week or so, but it hadn’t been before that.  It doesn’t rain quite every day!  LOL  London is often the hottest place in the country.

Hair likes: Ultra Swim shampoo, Abeni Dream Cleanser and Abeni light conditioner, oils and glycerine
Hair hates: aloe vera, gels of any kind, most conditioners (scalp issues)

LOL 4 out the 5 times I’ve been badly sunburnt in the UK have been in London mid-summer - and I rarely got burned at home!  :-D Bring sunblock!

It does rain fairly often here, but I find it’s more likely to rain daily in winter, early spring or late autumn.  The summers I’ve spent here have always been sunshine and loveliness with no more rain than I’d get living on the east coast.

I’m going to London not this weekend, but the next weekend. I am hoping to get some products too so this thread is helpful smile We don;t have a lot of CG product in the Netherlands so I’m excited to go shopping! I never knew I would be sooo excited to go shopping for conditioners raspberry

I have heard a lot about Suave. Is this available in the UK or just the US?

I plan on getting some Naked products and the l’Oreal Nutri Gloss Mask in the pink tub since it was discontinued here in the Netherlands before I went CG and heard about it :(

CG since May 2010, but slipped up a few times and had to use shampoo.

Still figuring my hair out! Don’t know if it likes protein yet, or how much moisture.

Elinious and amy - also good to pop in to Health Food stores - both Holland & Barrett and the independents. Can get Dr Organic and Australian Organics in H&B and Faith in Nature and many others in Health Food stores - especially the larger stores (like Whole Foods in High Street Kensington and Soho), HTH and enjoy your trips to London!  grin
