I have read all the stuff on here and advise and am now having brain melt down on what to try etc so can anyone give me an idiots starter guide on how to sort my hair
I’m a 2b/2c with some random spiral ringlets have medium hair, porous and lots of it and have it highlighted with a tint every 4weeks. Fringe is very spiraly and back mainly does waves some random ringlets underneath but the sides frizz out in an almost straight frizz.
At the moment I have been using TIGI curls rock shampoo and conditioner and have tried every well known anti frizz treatment and it seems to be getting worse.
They’re just seem to be so many products for so many different types I dont even know where to start!!!!!
TIA

Hi MrsMoby have you ever thought of trying a conditioner only system - have a read of this http://www.britishcurlies.co.uk/curl_forum/viewthread/401/.  It sounds that you are needing more moisture on the canopy part of your hair if that is where the frizz is.  Do you leave in conditioner or rinse out?  What styling products are you using just now?

Not tried just conditioner yet but I am going to I think as my hair seems to soak up conditioner at the moment. Styling wise at the moment I’m using frizz eaze spiral curls gel spray which makes ny spiral curls bit very curl the frizz bits even frizzier!!!! Have also tried frizz ease serum, l’oreal liss expert serum, l’oreal tec liss control, regis curl mist, matrix sleek look water free lockout and aussie dual personality texturing = conditioning gel spray. My hair looks best if I air dry it but I also use a sock diffuser if I’m in a rush or have tried (and failed) blow drying it straight (only hairdressers can do this on me), lock and roll curlers, straightening irons. Basically if an ad says my hair will be frizz free I try it and my hair is actually getting worse but now I know why reading all this stuff. I so want lovely frizz free curls as my 7 year old daughter has now started saying she hates her curly hair !

May be worth giving the cg way a try then to see how it does for you.  I don’t really know much about serums as didn’t really use them even when I wasn’t cg as they never worked for me.  If you are going to go down the cg route you will need to stop using the serums as the silicones in them can cause build up and the only way to get rid of this is to use a shampoo of some sort - not necessary a harsh shampoo but something so following the condish only method you would need to re-think your styling products.

Do you leave any condish in your hair just now or rinse it all out?  If you don’t use a leave in you could try putting some on the bits where you get most frizz and leaving it there and then put your styling products on top.  The weather also just now isn’t helping in the frizz dept.

Hi MrsMoby

It’s not hard to fry your brain with all the topics on here - let alone your hair!  I have mostly 2b hair and empathise with your frustrations!  It’s medium (with a few fine and a few coarse thrown in just to be extra annoying) and quite porous, but like yours there’s a lot of it and it is quite long. It also goes into full rebellion in humidity!  I’m going to tell you what I do - just so to give you some ideas.

In the past, I like you have used the Tigi curls rock line but these days I find my hair much easier to manage, softer and less frizzy since I stopped using shampoo (occasionally I do a wash with a non sulphate shampoo) and stopped using conditioner and styling products with silicone in them.

I am on a continuous experiment - mostly because I like experimenting - but I have found that some things really seem to work quite well.  My best hair days currently happen when I use Suki revitalising daily conditioner (marvelous but expensive) which I rinse out - but not completely followed by some organic aloe vera gel - on soaking wet hair. This gives me loads of moisture.  I then squidge and squadge gently with a microfibre towel and follow with a very light gel (I really like the Batia and Aleeza one that you can get in the emporium - very runny, but surprisingly effective). I then gently scrunch in the waves and the curls - either using hands or a microfibre towel.  I then proceed to make up (details of which can be found in a different forum ;o)) and then move to drying.  Now until the last 3 months or so, I never, ever used a hair dryer (unless the GHDs were coming out) - however I now do (ionic ceramic jobby) and I use two diffusers - not at the same time!  The first one helps me with the length and puts a lot of curl into it - it’s a sedussa - basically and enormous bucket with spiral fingers.  I dump half/third of my hair in the bucket then turn on the hairdryer and hold it still whilst the air circulates.  I probably let it go until 60%- 70% dry (by which time I am bored and running late for work), then I turn off the hairdryer, leave for a minute (well probably about 30 seconds but I am impatient and it feels like a minute) and remove my hair from the bucket, then repeat in the remaining wet sections of hair. Sedussa is not so great at drying around the roots so I have a smaller diffuser which I put on after the length is complete and dry around the roots - I aim for minimal touching here!

If have a light halo of frizz after this process is complete then I rub some of the B&A gel in my palms and fingers and very lightly skim the halo to smooth it down a bit.

I then leave it to air dry, failing miserably at not touching it (how does one know if one’s hair is dry unless one touches it?), but it would be better if I didn’t touch it.  Any gel which dries slightly crunchy dissipates with a gentle run of a finger and thumb over it.

Today, because I was chillin’, I did none of that and my husband keeps saying ‘your hair????’ in a slightly concerned, this isn’t a new look for you is it? tone.

And there you have it.  Oh my god, it’s an epic…. sorry.  I hope it helps give you some ideas.

Curly end of wavy. I get chunky ringlets and some elongated S shapes.  Fairly dense, medium texture, medium porosity.

Rotation is key for me.  Get on well with most Curl Junkie products especially CQ, CIAB, PP for stylers, Hard hold gel on top; usually BRHG.  Also CJ protein treatments.
Other stuff B&A Gel, EO conditioners, GFRS, Hairveda Sitrinnillah, Joico K-Pak reconstruct, Afroveda TT and CL butters.

Thank you Julia that is very helpful and my hair looks similar to yours in the picture. I to am impatient and always touch my hair to see if its dry although if left totally to air dry that can take several hours!!!!!! I have an ionic hairdryer but it came with a sock diffuser which I personally think is useless so may well see if the bucket type one you have would fit mine
Thanks for the advice off to experiment. Left it curly for the firt time in ages today and my friend complimented it and thought I’d been to the hairdressers grin
