I’ve been using this a gel for a litle while now and can safely say it definitely has a place on my summer list.
On the tube it claims to have ‘extreme resistance’ to humidity, heat and wind. I haven’t really tried it any of these conditions yet (hasn’t been too hot recently) so can’t comment on if it does indeed live up to these claims.
It does have excellent hold though, and like the GF 24 Hour Endurance gives great shine. It’s also less gunkier than the GF 24HE so somewhat easier to distribute. That said however, it is easy to use too much and I’m still struggling a little with the quantities. I’m sure that using a little would give me the hold I need, but use too much and there will be A LOT of crunch. Using too much may also leave your hair a little heavy/oily (that’s what happened to me this morning after using it yesterday) so quantity is key. If I use the right amount though it will always give me second/third day hair.
Also, again like the GF 24HE it is quite an oily product (like most of the GF line I think) so can be somewhat moisturising. As it is quite heavy, it’s probably best to use it over a lighter leave in/curl creme. I’ve been using it over pink boots curl creme and works like a charm
I did once use it over some Curl Junkie products (Curl Assurance Leave In and the Aloe Fix Gel) and that did not turn out too well - possibly too much glycerin.
It’s a shame that it is a such summer/humidity product though as it would be lovely to have a hard hold gel which would be suitable to use in the colder and dryer months. But I may try using heavier cremes/butters instead this year.
So, if you are a fan of the GF 24HE, I’d heartily recommend giving this a try if the GF24HE isn’t giving the right amount hold on these warmer days. There are also some pics in my fotki where I’ve used this gel if you wish to take a look.
Oh just to add, I haven’t and won’t replace this with the GF 24HE, that is an all weather and perfect gel for me ![]()
Thanks!
