I’d love to go CG but i’ve not a clue which condish to choose for 1).Co-wash and 2).Rinse-Out/DT.

I’ve been going thru CG posts and emporium reviews for the last 2 nights but im still not sure which 2 condishes would be a good choice for a CG newbie with my hairtype.  I’m sending myself crazy going round in circles and i need to get my order in so i can go CG before i go away with my fiance.  My hair’s always been ‘unhappy’ & im convinced it’s b/c of all the sulfates & ‘cones in the products iv used up til now.
Id reeeally appreciate any product advice anyone could give me for my hairtype to get me started on the CG regime - then maybe my hair will look less ‘witchy’ by the time my fiance and i go away! :(

I’d like to start simple -  1 CG-friendly condish for co-washing and another richer CG condish for rinse-out.

I’m a Type 2 - Wavy, European, APL, Dry/Dehydrated, Frizzy, Medium-Course texture, Medium thickness, Porous - and generally wild, ‘unhappy’ looking hair that hates holding a style & generally looks like iv been through a hedge backwards :(
I do seem to need quite a lot of moisture/nourishment but i’d like to encourage volume too if possible (i love BIG hair - in a sexy, bouncy way.. not straw-like & scary like mine is nowadays!).

Can anyone suggest any CG-friendly condish that would suit my hairtype please?  xxxx

Hi LittleSnowflake and welcome - you could try faith in nature shampoos for co wash and Garnier repair & shine for rinse out if your are looking for high street products.  Also check out CrystalTips signature as her hair has similar properties to yours to see what she is using.  smile

Hey there! - thanks for the welcome - if i can get my hair to look as healthy as everyones avatar pics i’ll be a very happy curlie gurlie!.

I’ve never heard of Faith In Nature - are they available in the UK?

I dont necessarily *have* to use high street products - in fact im wondering if i should try a more expensive condish for rinse-out/DT/leave-in ~ do you find you get better quality & better results with a more expensive conditioner?

For the co-wash though i figured it might be a bit of a waste to use a higher priced condish - but then im not sure about that either!  LOL

Do you have any recs for the better quality conditioners at all?

I really appreciate your help, thanks so much - and i’ll go check CrystalTips’s sig out for some more ideas.    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

faith in nature you get from health shops in the high street - use good quality ones for rinse out or leave in.  In the emporium curl junkie or darcy’s are good ranges - well actually they are all good ranges! Once you find something that suits your hair the results will be better - beware tho that you may have to try a few but with medium hair it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.  smile

Thanks CHM! - I’ll take a look at Darcy’s & CJ in the emporium for leave-in and i’ll get in some OS & GR&S for the co-wash.

AO seems to get a lot of love on the forums here - not sure if AOHS or AOGPB would work for my hairtype?  I want plenty of volume still - so anything that weighs the hair down tooo much would be an no-no for me.
If anyone can suggest any CG condish that encourages BIG hair (whilst moisturising too) would be AMAZING!

Grr - i guess its just all trial and error but i was soooo hoping to get the right combo of products by the time i go away with my fiance in a month.

It would be great actually if the emporium had seperate catagories of products recommended for type 2s, 3s etc - but maybe it doesnt work that way.

Oh btw - can anyone recommend some nice styling products for type 2s? - like i say i like BIG bouncy waves - i actually dont even mind a *bit* of frizz if its fairly healthy - so i guess the lighter styling sprays etc would be best for me.  Any ideas ladies?

Thanks for your help CHM xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey LittleSnowFlake,

I know this thread is from a while ago. I’m a type 2 and the best results I’ve had so far is by using Curls in a Bottle on its own. Gives me big, soft bouncy curls and there’s only a tiny amount of crunch now and again. You don’t seem to need much either so the bottle is lasting me ages.

If I try and use gels and layer creams my hair just gets dragged down.
