I just had to write a review on these two products which I got yesterday and tried out today.

I have 3c/4a type curls I believe and I normally just to wash and go’s.

So, after shampooing my hair, which i do about every 4 days, I applied the Curl Harmony Intense Repair Deep Conditioner to my hair in sections to make sure every strand was covered.  It feels like whipped butter and smells good.  You are supposed to leave it on for 20-30mins but I left mine on for an hour, mainly because I had stuff to do around the house.

Whilst it dried in my hair it made my locks look well moisturised and defined.  As I washed it out I was amazed at how soft my hair felt.  In fact, I shrieked with delight in my shower!  After I had rinsed it out I applied a little Kinky Curly Not Today to my ends and detangled my hair with my hands (i don’t always use a comb). My hair felt amazing.

I then applied the Miss Jessies Quick Curls in sections.  I normally use Kinky Culy Curling Custard which causes shrinkage and can be sticky in the hair.  The quick curls was so deceiving, at first I was worried I hadn’t applied enough because my curls were still in their elongated state.  It felt non sticky going into my hair and had a gorgeous fresh smell.

I then sat under my dryer for 15mins. When I finished I noticed that my hair still felt soft and looked longer than it normally did because my curls hadn’t shrunk and they weren’t crunchy like they can get sometimes with KCCC.  I was amazed with how much movement i had.  I like my hair quite big, so i used my hair dryer to stretch my curls and i was done!

I’m sleeping with my hair in a pineapple and hopefully will get good second day hair!

I’ve attached a pic, apologies for the quality! grin

Looks amazing! I didn’t know the quick curls could work on afro textured hair, because its not normally marketed towards it in some of the Miss Jessie’s promotional stuff I have.

The OP looks like she has curly hair? Titi and Miko don’t have that dissimilar hair to her. I think that Miss Jessie’s doesn’t work for people like myself who don’t have curly hair but rather coily hair. I’ve never bought any MJ because people with 4b have only ever used the BB buttercreme and seem to feel it is dispensable. All the Youtubers who use MJ are distinctively curlies.

Hair Don’ts: Gel, Glycerin heavy products, greasy products, Anita Grant whipped butters, coconut oil, cones and sulphates

I really like the results. I consider 3c - 4b in the afro-textured category. I only mentioned it because this MJ leaflet I have, puts quick curls, with a 3a type in the picture.

i love Curl Harmony products! all of them that i have tried! the only one i haven’t tried is the creamy shampoo and i think i will be giving that a go soon. Hmmm, never tried MJ’s products, i think they are a bit pricey for my liking. I think i have 3c/4a hair too (the back is very very loose curls, when i look at curl types, i actually think it is 3b, kinda silky) but my crown is definitely 4a.
Is it possible that curls get looser as the hair gets longer? i could’ve sworn that my front was 4a and my sides were 3c, but now it looks more like 3c and 3b respectively. I don’t use heat on my hair (not even blow drying) so i know it’s not heat damage!
Thanks smile

Thanks everyone!

I tried using the quick curls and deep conditioner again yesterday and got exactly the same results. The only things I did differently was to leave a load of Treseme Naturals conditioner on my hair (not my scalp) and shower my hair with cold water just before to help reduce the frizz i always get at my roots!  The quick culs do see to elongate my curls.

Its really hard, for me, being a 3c/4a or whatever else i’ve got going on up in there!!  Its really tricky trying to find a product to enhance curls without leaving the hair greasy or crunchy.  i do agree that as my hair has grown my curls do seem different and I do def have afro hair.

Keshia Jo, if possbile, could you or someone please organise a regular meet up for curlies?? I’m yet to find my curl twin and would love to see all the wonderful curls in person!!!

thanks
D

As your hair gets longer, the curls get pulled by the weight, which makes them appear looser.

My review on Quick Curls

I tried not to have too high hopes for Miss Jessie’s as I’ve read mixed reviews that appear to make them ‘love it or hate’ type products. But secretly I was holding a small hope that they would work for me and give me that ultimate goal of second day hair.

So first off, I tried the lightest of the bunch, Quick Curls. This product is marketed particularly at ‘white gals’ and for looser textures, so I thought that this might give me the best results. I used CJ Smoothing Lotion underneath to prep the hair for the product.

The scent is a pleasant fresh lime smell with a hint of ginger and I enjoyed little whiffs of it throughout the day as the breeze caught my hair. However I must admit that by the end of the day I was starting to get sick of it.

The cream went on smoothly enough and has plenty of slip, so there was no ‘grabby feeling’ that we all hate! I could see some curls clumping and forming whilst my hair was wet and I was beginning to think that this could give me great results.

However, as it dried it gave no hold, my hair began to frizz (particularly on the canopy) and my hair just looked limp, lifeless and flat really. The moisture was good, although by the end of the day it was starting to feel coated and my scalp felt itchy.

So all in all, I’m not that impressed with Quick Curls. Perhaps I need to try it without a leave-in underneath, so I’ll give it another go at some point, but just the coated feeling plus the itchy scalp is enough to tell me that I will not be repurchasing.
