Hi ladies

My 2 year old has fantastic hair (unsure of the ‘type’) - Dad is afro carribbean and I am white. Her hair is very different to her brothers - her hair is a mixture of curls and a bit of fuzziness at the temples. She has delicious corkscrew curls too, and I notice that these are becoming more and more prevalent as the hair’s kind of beginning to drop.

I’ve spoken to some other mums whose daughter’s have similar hair, and they all say they cut their daughter’s hair themselves. What are your thoughts on this? They say that they just snip a bit of each curl when it’s wet or dry? a) I’m not sure about this and b) how could you get every curl? She wouldn’t sit still for long enough! I’d hate to ruin her hair, but not sure what to do.

Any advice gratefully received as I think her hair would benefit from a little cut.

PS I live in Crystal Palace area, so if anyone knows anyone who’s good who could visit us at home please let me have details!

Thanks!

Jackie

Hi jackie1973 what I would do is catch a little hair between your middle finger and index finger slide your fingers up till nearly at the end of the hair and snip maybe 1/4 inch off - just work over her hair snipping a tiny bit - it wont be noticed but will just tidy the ends up. I would do on dry hair but no reason you couldn’t do on wet.  For some curls you could just snip a little off the end of the curl - but as you say, how will she sit still to let you do this all over? (Maybe someone will post about a mobile hairdresser.) hope this helps a little smile

Thanks, that does help! I think what I’ll do is put her hair in 4 sections (4 bunches) and then release one bunch and start by trimming the curls/hair within that bunch and then let her have a break and move onto the next bunch a bit later! That way I’ll know where I’ve got up to grin

good idea to section it - thing is, you’ll be taking just a little off and curly hair is very forgiving you prob wont notice. smile
