Hi, I’m fairly new to the site. I’ve had curly hair all my life and hated it. It’s only when I met my husband I really appreciated it - he loves my curls! But I made a monumental mistake in summer 2010 and cut it all off, I was just sick of the frizz and looking like a bush. Hubby has persuaded me to grow it back and I had to admit i’Ve missed it. But I never knew about cg hair, I feel like I’ve been missing out! I think I have Botticelli curls. I started the cg method last week and everyone commented on how curly my hair was. But I had a hair cut on Saturday and she used tigi products. My hair felt so good after I used tigi again to wash it at home. Today has been torture! My scalp was all itchy and felt disgusting, my hair managed to look flat and frizzy at the same time. I came home and jumped straight in the shower. Used miracle moist first, then super drugs coconut conditioner and boots intense coconut and almond mask. Ahhh, so much better! I want to get cg products, what do you recommend?

Hi Lagatta and welcome smile There is a list here of cg products you can get mostly on the high street http://www.britishcurlies.co.uk/curl_forum/viewthread/215/ I personally would recommend the tresemme naturals for co washing.

Hi, I am new here.

I only found this site yesterday and wow, what a lot of information.  Am still a bit confused at the mo, but doing a lot of reading.

I have had (very) short hair all my life until I started to grow it two years ago and it has finally got down to my shoulders.  I knew it was a bit curly because it was always very bouncy but last summer my daughter persuaded me to leave it natural and I was pleasantly surprised to discover it has an amount of wave/curl.  I have been experimenting with its upkeep ever since.
As it tends to be dry I only wash it once a week but I can only keep the curly look for a few days and by day 4 it is virtually straight (but still with a soft wave). I don’t brush it until late in the week otherwise I get a huge pyramid of frizz.

I had never heard of co-washing, or knew of all the products on here.
This is going to be a whole new adventure and an expensive one at that!

Hope it makes a difference because I really like my curly hair and everyone says it makes me look 10 years younger. Who wouldn’t like that!

Type 2b and 2c I think.  Some fine and smooth, some very bumpy. Texture and porosity still figuring!
Products used Aveda Dry Remedy Shampoo and conditioner.
Aveda Be Curly shampoo and conditioner, Pre prep styler, Curl Enhancer

Hi Fellow Curlies,  I’m a newbie to this site but haven’t used shampoo on my hair for over a year now after reading Lorraine Massey’s Curly Girl book!!  It has transformed my hair, can’t believe it has taken me 46 years to discover!!!

I wash with Tresemme Naturals Conditioner, co-wash with it and also use it as a leave-on conditioner too!  I use Tresemme Naturals Mousse too as a styling aid.  All this works OK but I wonder if some other products would work better?  I would love to try some of the lovely products on your site, but would prefer to spend the money on ones that have a fair chance of working on my type of hair.

I have curly fairly fine European hair with tight ringlets underneath particularly near the hairline at the back and larger ringlets on the top that move to straightish frizz after a couple of days!  I know my hair would be best co-washed daily, but I have difficulty in finding the time to leave it to dry naturally every morning, and any form of blowdrying, even with a diffuser seems to result in frizz!!!  Help!!!

I am totally confused about hair categories and then even if I worked that out, which products are best for which category?

Any great knowledgeable Curly Girls out there that could help??

Thanks Guys xx   gulp

Hi Jaxx and welcome:) Maybe trying some gel on top of your mousse for extra hold would help.  I sometimes use the joico mousse and then use BRHG or Garnier Camouflage gel on top.  (or curly emporium wise, the mop top/curl junkie gels are good)

Hi I’m gwizz and I can’t believe I’ve not seen this forum before. So many times I’ve cut off or straightened my hair in desperation, now I see light at the end of the tunnel. Pregnancy and birth to 2 boys has taken its toll on my frizzy mess so can’t wait to get exploring.

Hello!

I’m Hay and I’ve been lurking in here for several months, experimenting at home with a conditioner only washing routine and falling in love with it!

Really value the time and effort put in by everyone on here, superb site.

Cheers!

Hayley
