Am making the lo….ong trek from Cornwall to the Peak District this weekend for a friend’s birthday campfest and am getting a miffed at the thought of noone being able to appreciate my new frizzless look after and evening being sat outside by a fire and then a night under canvas.

Very vain I know!

I have no idea what the facilities at the campsite are like and my basic plan at the moment is to wash my hair Friday morning before work and then will hopefully be able to get away with not washing it until I get back on Sunday night (and I’ll sepnd most of Sunday in the car, so don’t really care what state my hair is in then), but any tips on keeping the Derbyshire mist from doing evil things to my locks?

I did try and start co-washing but then some pesky cones magically appeared on the ingredients’ list but getting on quite nicely with Naked products until they’re used up.

I’m not really a camping sort of girl, but if I did get dragged along I’d prob take a spray bottle, fill with water on the Sat am and then plop for for a bit.  (If you leave it to air dry you’ll be ok).  I don’t know if campsites have electric points for hair drying or not.  If you dont air dry normally then I’d take a light gel and scrunch some in on the saturday.  Hope this at lease has given you some ideas (or head to the ladies room of the nearest pub with your hairdryer in your bag!) LOL

Hi Cornish Curls - personally, I would wear it up for the whole weekend - I’ve never been camping but a couple of years ago I was in the mountains in India. Stayed in a wood cabin, complete with tin roof - and an outhouse with a squat loo and several families of spiders! Cold bucket washes were the order of the day so I decided then and there that my hair would go up and stay up until I got to a hotel 10 days later! I had enough to worry about - LOL - I’m arachnophobic! When I got to the hotel and washed it - the water was black!! Wear it up - and enjoy yourself!  grin

If only that were an option but my hair isn’t quite long enough long face . Am going armed with leave in conditioner and Naked frizz serum and a good dollop of Boots Pink Creme before I go.

After the first few ciders I probably won’t care anyway, lol.

hey cornishculrs the peak district isnt too far from us and it isnt really that misty LOL Mind you I am also not much of a camper LOL
I think a spray bottle with some water or leave in is a good idea to devive your hair on sat, then the frizz fighter to tackle any unruliness that may develop sounds a good plan!
And as you siad - it wont matter too much after a few drinks LOL
Have fun!

The Pear Magners is scrummy.

I’ve been trying (and failing) to avoid dipping into my crate of Savannah cider that was meant to be reserved for the weekend!

hi cornishcurls!!

i have only just seen you your post as i only joined this week. how was your camping trip?

just a quick tip if you go camping again, this is what i do when i go camping, (ive got 3a/b curls) when ive washed my hair i apply whatever product im using and then roughly section my hair and twist each section quite tight and let it air dry and then tip my head upside down and shake the twists out. tends to keep the frizz monster away cheese

but then again when you had a few ciders, who really cares!!! tongue rolleye

Does anybody know if washing or wetting your hair with sea water would be ok?  I’m considering doing some long term travelling (need to save up first!). But travelling for a couple of months and probably staying in cheap accommodation, youth hostel or camping. Places like that.

Anybody have tips?

Hi curly wurly

Wetting with sea water would be OK on an ad hoc basis - some say sea water is great for hair. It would certainly give you a different look - curl wise! But the salt would build up, and it would be drying (especially if in the sun - could also bleach). You wouldn’t want to wash your hair in it for sure. There is bound to be regular water on your travels; well, river the odd tap - lol! If necessary, you could use bottled.

Hi Crystal Tips,

Yeah there probably will be regular places to get water - but I’m just a bit sad and I like preparing for every eventuality. Plus if I travel with non curlies, they will so not understand expecially when they can just run a brush through their hair in a few seconds! Grrr. I too have also heard other people say that salt water was good for curls but I possibly read that in a magazine so not sure if I really believed it. I just wondered what other more knowledgable people thought.

Nah I wouldn’t want to have to buy bottled water all the time, i love my hair but I love my money more! he he.

Nothing wrong with having a plan! Salt water is ‘good’ for curls in that it enhances them - so if you wanted to try and go as curly as you can, then try it but I’d give it a good cowash after! When do you intend going on your travels?

ct is right - it will enhance your curls but you will have to watch for dryness - make sure you take a good co with you and when you get the chance treat your hair.

Hi, I found this product the other day while spending time browsing for conditioners (my current favourite past time - is that sad!?!)

I used to use davines stuff all the time, I lived it but most has cones in so no good for me now downer

This one is CG friendly though and might be worth a go for hoidays?  Not sure what they mean by ‘gel-like conditioner’ makes m think maybe its not particuarly moisturising.  Ingredients included on the website.

Signature

AW Class: 3a, some random 2c   LOIS Class:  S(O), fine and thready
Low to medium porosity, likes protein
Co wash - FIN seaweed
Conditioner - Naked detox, AOGPB
Leave-in - KCKT / Recoil (although not together!)
Deep Condition - Crown pride, Naked rescue

Styling - Fuzzy duck gel, almost exclusively
SOTC - 1 drop of jojoba oil

Well there is a possibility of Peru trip in March. Or possibly New Zealand for few months in summer or Italy for a few months. The world’s my oyster….............oh to be young with no responsibility! Realistically it depends on IF and HOW MUCH i have saved and with all the wonderful new products to buy for my hair! he he!
