My daughter who is 12 has the same hair type as myself, 2b/c, and I have talked to her about what I do and how i have found my hair is much better for it.  Apparently her friends at school keep telling her she should straighten her hair gulp she is not keen and i tell her to just say if she were meant to have straight hair she would have been born that way! she should make the most of her hair the way it is, and she agrees.

she has gorgeous auburn hair which is fairly long when she was about 2 she had these gorgeous ringlets so i would say a type 3? then but they disappeared i am wondering whether they will return with CG but doubt it and not really that bothered just curious.

she also suffers with itchy flaky scalp and currently uses anti dandruff shampoo (which has cones), cone free condish every other wash and no styling products. she dries naturally.

i have suggested to her that her problems might be due to the shampoo she uses drying her scalp and causing a ph imbalance? and that if she switch to a low poo and ACV rinse now and again it could solve her problems.  I’ve told her to use Aussie moist next time she shampoos and do an ACV after condish.  She wasn’t too keen on co washing, but she may come round.  I don’t feel she needs a DT at the mo, her hair feels well nourished.

So am hoping she will soon see the benefits of CG and never touches a straight iron, i ditched mine almost a year ago, and have never looked back, it ruined my hair.

Aw, I’m glad she’s not wanting to succumb to silly peer pressure! Good on her! The curls may not come back, as some people’s curls just change over time. I know a lot of people who had ringletted hair when they were little and then they just dropped out!

Itchy scalp is always a bit difficult, because they’re very particular. It could be build up, in which case, she may need to clarify. And some anti-dandruff shampoos are really harsh and exacerbate the problem.
Please remember to heavily dilute the ACV!
Sometimes scalp issues could be part of an underlying problem, like ezcema, or dermatitis, so you might want to ask your doctor. You may want to check out Pelicano’s Curl Diary, because she has some scalp problems too.She may not want to co-wash because she doesn’t want her hair to get greasy and get acne/teased at school. If her hair isn’t dry, then she may not need to co-wash, but maybe pay more attention to her ends.
