Am surprised - and a tad confused - but this is one CJ product that my hair doesn’t seem to love! Don’t get me wrong - it’s not hate we’re talking here but kinda indifference. All the ingredients are there but my hair is just not FEELIN’ the protein! And I don’t need a lot!

Have used around 6 times now and it just seems to leave my hair moisturised (as do all the CJ creamy stuff I’ve tried - which is generally what I am looking for). I was expecting some big hit of protein (as it is a PT and I have not used a PT since going CG) but none forthcoming. Will try again, in a different season perhaps, but for now will go into ‘storage’. Ah well, can’t win ‘em all!  smile

I don’t have a lot to compare it to - and I only had a sample - but my hair felt/looked nicer after using it, but it did feel like more of a DT than a PT. My curls didn’t pop exactly - but my hair felt lovely and moisturized….

Any recommendations for a stronger PT?

I was the same CT - far too moisturising for me which is weird to say about a pt!

My thoughts exactly! It really felt like a DT rather than a PT my hair was so soft and moisturized but i kept on reminding myself that it was PT so i did follow up with a DT (Deep Fix - didnt really like this and it wasnt as moisturizing as Repair Me which worried me even more lol). Very strange eh? I really do like it though but probably for the wrong reasons lol not sure what is did in terms of a protein boost. Does everyone follow up with a DT or has anyone just used the Repair Me rinsed out then styled..Also in terms of protein it strikes me as a light protein rather than medium, what are people’s thoughts?

I thought it was meant to be a heavy duty Protein Treatment   mad

I didn’t follow up with a DT - but whenever I have done a PT - I don’t feel like I need to.

My hair is weird

@ Kat it may be heavy duty im just going off the way it felt. Quite confused actually, just felt way too moisturizing to be a PT

Oh no-  I just realized that smilie might have looked like I was rolling my eyes at you/your comment or something!

No no no!  red face  My bad.

I meant that I thought Repair Me was meant to be heavy protein but weirdly enough it doesn’t seem to be from all our experiences. It was meant to be a confused smilie. Im going to go change my post - it does sound like I was being rude - sorry guys!

I do still really like it - Im going to buy some smile

But its more a combined PT/DT for me I think. Mind you - just because we all feel moisturized after using it doesn’t mean we aren’t getting a great protein hit.

Lol - maybe we are just difficult - we find a PT that doesn’t dry us out - but we don’t trust it and the PJ in us means we won’t accept it and will continue looking!  LOL

Not yet - remind me which one it was again?

I’ve out of trying new PT/DT recently just because I am trying out other new products - I don’t want to do too many new things all at once smile

Count me in with everyone saying this doesn’t feel like much of a protein hit. That is, I rarely feel proteiny after using it.  I read somewhere or other that it was designed this way - not really as a 2-in-1, but just as a really moisturising protein treatment.  I don’t know if that’s down to it being only keratin or what.  Very, very odd.

CURL JUNKIE REPAIR ME

Marketed as an Intense Protein Treatment to give a major dose of protein

Pros

- For those who love protein, this is (I think) one of the strongest protein treatments out there

- Despite the amount of protein in it, it doesn’t leave hair dry or straw like at all – in fact it leaves hair incredibly soft afterwards that a DT isn’t really needed

- Hair feels light and curls bouncy after rinsing out

- Can be left on hair for a longer treatment but works just as well if left for 5 minutes in the shower

- Gives an incredible amount of shine to hair – my curls just felt very healthy afterwards

- Comes in a larger bottle so it lasts longer

- Not overly thick, so easy to distribute throughout the hair – also very good at detangling

Cons

- Feels more like a DT then a PT (not necessarily a bad thing but may not be what some people are looking for in a PT)

- One of the more expensive protein treatments out there

As with all CJ products, this is a very high quality product, and my hair always feels very soft after I use any of her stuff. There is a possibility of being over conditioned I think, if you use to many of her products together, and your hair definitely feels as though it has had a DT after this one. It’s like a two in one PT/DT. Despite its moisturizing properties, it is recommended you don’t use this one as a leave-in or a regular rinse out because of its strength. It is also, pretty expensive.

I know this is an old post, but had to add my comments!

I use MOP Deep Protein, and love this stuff!  My hair looks so great after using it, and I even get second day curls, which doesn’t normally happen!

As to comments about PT being drying, I apply to wet hair, then cover with a shower cap, apply heat (via a hairdryer hood) for about 20 minutes, rinse out, then condition with my normal daily conditioner after.  I get no dryness with this method, just great curls!

I seem to remember that the MOP extreme protein was discontinued a while back, maybe that has changed recently?
I like the repair me, I tend to leave it overnight and my hair seems happy and bouncy and less frizzy after use.

Ahh, no gulp  I bought a nearly new bottle off the swapboard two months ago, and love this stuff!  No idea it was/might be discontinued red face  I will do a quick search online in a minute, but if any one reading this has any lurking in a bathroom cabinet and wants rid, please PM me with costs!  This always seems to happen to me, find a great product (not just hair stuff) and then find out 6 months later it is being discontinued grrr

Also if any one can recommend a good alternative?  Reading the above I’m not convinced the others mentioned will be as good?

Emma.
