I agree, I had my hair straight all the time for years and years unti i went CG in January.  I had my hair straight first time this weekend and I loved it and my hair you could see what is such good condition and was great.  After it though I washed and my hair does seem a little frizzy.  I did a ACV rinse and Protein Treatment but think I might need to do a DT to stop the frizz.  The curls are still great though, just baby hair is craaazzy!

Can anyone suggest heat protector serum or spray which is CG?  I would like to have straight once or twice a year so handy to have the right products! smile

I quite like how I can go straight and it look quite nice and thick. I like to have a change sometimes and I don’t see it much different to straight haired girls curling their hair or having a perm.

Signature

co-wash and rinseout- Garnier FS+R/naked intensive care
deep treatment- trying and testing at the moment
leave-in- naked leave-in
styling- purple boots gel. Dying to try some Curl Queen gel!

Highly porous, though the top of my hair seems more porous that the bottom (odd!)

Hi I dont straighten my hair often, but I use the IC Fantasia Heat protectant spray and serum when I do. The only problem i’ve had with heat damage was when i went to the hairdressers and she used those ‘oven straighteners’... never again!!

I think with anything in this natural journey, it’s trial and error! i also hear that rapeseed oil is a great heat protectant, but i’m yet to try this myself grin

Hair Type?? At a guess I’d say a mixture of 4a/b with some looser curls at the back (heat damage!)

No it’s not touchy.. I guess just like Keisha Jo said we are more interested in becoming curly hair masters before moving on to straightening.Reasons why I don’t straighten my hair regularly:
1. I am scared of heat damage.
2. I am too lazy…really it’s true and too busy. It take ages to do it right.
3. I have to hunt down the right tools flat iron blow dryer.
4. I have to hunt down the right products that are CG friendly or organic.

I have had my hair straightened by Errol Douglas and Candy from Aveda Nottingham and truth betold I loved it but at the same time I couldn’t wait to wash my hair and assess the damage.  That said kudos to Candy and Errol there was no damage at all. I am yet to replicate their magic at home. Not to mention it taking over an hour to do by the Pros and my hair is not even chin length! Reversion is an issue ‘cause it only last about 8 hours with my hair. But if your budget will stretch Aveda, Giovanni and Mop do products to get it all straight and smooth. We can only trial and see what works.Cheers

I use heat but usually for drying on some days and occasional flat iron. not often because it is just extra work for me. My hair reverts and has not suffered from heat. . Just do you. I have read of ways to straighten hair without heat but unsure how tedious that will be.
