Komaza Coconut Pudding

This is more gel-like than a cream like the Califia Pudding - it is a thick clear gloopy jelly (with few small white bits floating around - but this is normal going off other reviews), that is designed to define and shrink curls, and provide a light hold.

Pros:

- Doesn’t really smell like coconut to me, just more of a sweet smell that doesn’t linger in hair

- I like the texture and thickness of this, it goes into my hair nicely and I can *feel* it clumping my hair together - but there is no stickiness or residue

- Eliminates wet frizz

- Every time I have used it I have gotten lovely fat curls and ringlets

- Unlike Califia pudding - I found this one nice and light and didn’t experience any build up and weighed down hair despite using a decent amount

- Its nice and moisturizing and not at all drying

Cons:

- This isn’t really a gel, despite appearing like it. It really has no hold whatsoever - so for curlies that need a strong hold, you want to add a gel over the top. I used BRHG which went over it nicely with no problems

- The aloe in this is a problem for me in low dews (I have yet to test it during summer). Even with BRHG on top my curls had no hold and began to expand and fluff by midday

- Quite pricey - but I would think a tub would last a good long time - not much product is needed

_______________________

I kind of love this product. Its one of a rare few stylers I can put in my hair and have it clump together, the frizz disappear and I can see even while wet what awesome curls I am going to get. And I do get amazing, gorgeous, thick, tight curls with this pudding - like I’ve never achieved with anything else.

My one issue is the reaction to the aloe - Im really praying aloe is not a problem for me in the summer so I can use this product with confidence because its definitely one I want in my rotation - and would gladly pay the price for.

For those curlies who want definition but don’t need hold I would recommend it, and for those who might need a strong hold gel on top - its worth the extra step in your routine.

Because it pretty much does exactly as it promises, Im giving this a 10/10

For me personally, it gets an 8.5/10 for now. I’ll re-assess in the summer when Im hoping I can give it a big 10 all around!

Woohoo, I was putting off getting this because of the coconut smell *happy face*.

I quite like coconut milk, cream and oil, which I constantly use.  but Inecto and stuff that smells of “fake” coconut smell, makes me ill :(

Oooh im gonna have to lift my hair product ban to get this lollllllll.  Might just get the sample as I want to try the coconut curl lotion thingy. Have you tried this yet?

I knoooow lol.  Its not even just hair stuff im like this with either…you wanna see how many shoes I own tongue wink

Anyway, I got DB curling jelly (full size), the Komaza coconut sample set, Hairveda Shikakai oil (sample), hairveda moist 24/7 (sample), Hairveda whipped gelly (sample).  I had to stop myself before I got carried away lol. I hope the Hairveda stuff is CG - I was devastated when I found out about the whipped ends having mineral oil downer

Hairveda samples are really cheap though and I got 4/5 goes out of my whipped ends (although my hair hated it). DB is one I have in my gigantic wish list smile

My whipped ends is the full sized one downer  Oh well I will just low poo after I have used it (on my next wash, not straight after lol).  I know, nearly everthing in my wishlist is now DB.  I am still trying to figure out what my hair likes and doesnt like, that is my excuse for buying so much all at once hahaha.  If you want a sample of the DB gelly, just let me know.

I will not buy anything else this month - I can beat the PJ in me!

Ooooo thats very kind of you. But because of the aloe I am going to wait until the summer before trying it. I will. *Sits on hands*. I may take you up on your offer then though lol! smile

Post up about how you find it at any rate - it seems to be very popular going of the emporium reviews!

Oh, this has aloe too!  Oh well I wait a couple of weeks to use it aswell then.  Is that because of the flash drying thing?

I like this better than the Califa pudding (can’t wait for the 16oz of this) as I got very little shrinkage with it (and it looks like gel!), the scent is quite subtle and doesn’t last so you can layer more scented product on top without causing issues. The only down side was that I found that I had to do quite a bit of SOTC its been several days and the hold has held up my coils (heh) even with constant re-wetting and smushing about <3

Efuru,

Did you get the 16oz from the emporium?  Ooooh, I havnt even had my order yet and im getting all excited about getting a larger size.  Can I just ask, do you reapply this everyday?  Or is the hold still holding after a few days?

Nope, haven’t got the 16oz yet (only the 8 is available in the Emporium). I applied it on Sunday and my coils as still as shiny and defined as they were on Sunday.

Yes it was for a wash and go, maybe its because my coils are tinny but I like the hold of the coconut pudding.
