Hello

I have long curly/wavy hair. I haven’t had a proper hair cut for two years now. I want to change my hair style. Any of you know any curly hair friendly stylist in Sheffield?

Thanks

hi, i’m going to a try a new stylist in doncaster next week as i am in a similar situation as you. i havent had my hair cut since july, and really want a different style but i either grow it or have it cut in the same kinda style but shoulder length cos i dont know what else i can do with it! i’m hoping she can inspire me in some way about my hair. this salon was recommended by a friend of a friend who is a rep for schwarzkopft (no idea how to spell that!!! ; ) ) so i am praying she can wave her magic wand on my curls.

will post something on here after ive had it cut!

hi, well i had my hair cut y’day and im quite disappointed!!!  downer the stylist was really lovely and asked what i do with my hair - told her i shampoo and cond it then use shockwavs curl mousse and then diffuse but leave a little damp, and then the following 2 days i tie it up as i cant be arsed most of the time. she said i had lovely hair, and asked what i wanted doing and told her i dont really knw as i have it cut shoulder length or let it grow. i said as long as i can tie it up she can do what she wants!!! hmm, not sure i should of said that. i told her having curly hair can be a love hate relationship but most of the time i quite like my hair.

she kept refering to a pic in a mag of cheryl cole with wavy blow dried hair, and i told her i wouldnt do anything like that on a daily basis. when she started cutting it i could see the top layers were really short but she kept reassuring me it would look nice, and she left the bottom layers really long and i asked her to take another inch off which she even said look better, she dried in the cheryl cole style which looked really nice, but when i got home i was so concerned about the length (or lack of it) on top i wet my hair and styled as i normally do and it was just not right!!! mad

i can just put it in a bobble, and the long bits just make it look like ive got one of them wigs on that judges wear! its really wispy and fly away, (weird to get used to when i had big hair that just needed taming) i took the scissors to it this morning and cut about an inch off the bottom, and it feels much better, i think i will get used to it in a few weeks when it has grown a bit.

i did ask for something different and that is what i got, maybe i didnt like it cos ive had the same style for quite a while, but we live and learn dont we hmmm

the search continues for the curly stylist, (next time i’m going take my boyfs advice and go to go where i normally do)  rolleyes

Sorry Sarah-h to hear that. But your hair might look better when it’s settled with the new look after a few days. Whenever I had my hair cut in the past, it usually took a few days before I got used to the new style. That said though, I’ve never been satisfied with the result after hair cuts. Just that it looked better after a few days than immediately after the cut. So these days, apart from occasional trims, I haven’t had hair cut for more than two years now. I’ve had this same hair style for ages now just because I daren’t trust any stylists. It’s frustrating that there are very few stylists who understand curly hair and cut it well.

Anyway, I hope your hair will get better after a week or so. I keep my fingers crossed for you. smile
Thanks for sharing your experience.
