Ladies, I find that curly girls have the most trouble getting shine to our hair, due to the way curls are our hair struggles to reflect light and give shine as much. The best product I have used for shine so far is KKCC, but if you know the KKCC you cant just whip on your hair and it re-shines your curls again. I dont want to have to use any products with silicones that give fake shine, because I use natural products now and whenever I go back to a product with silicones, mineral oil ect my hair feel horrible, plastic and dry.

So does anyone have any preferably natural product suggestions that they have tried/ or have heard give amazing shine??

Btw My curls are a big mixture of 4a-3a curls.

Thanks ^__^

Hairveda almond glaze.
this is one of the products that I bought and when it arrived I had no clue what it was or how to use it, but it just sounded so good.. and it’s fairly cheap.
I have only used it a few times on dry hair and gives a nice shine to my hair without leaving it greasy

Thanks for the response…hmm Interesting. Is is heavy on the hair? - unlike a lot of people I do kind of like products that are kind of heavy. I heard its quite oily or similar to a pomade? I checked on the store its quite cheap too compared to other stuff ^_^. My hair is very dry, hence the shine problem so I think I’ll have to give it a try =)

on the tub it says natural pomade. I/ however dont really know what a pomade is.
I think it’s quite heavy which is why I only use a small amount at a time, Im not really a fan of heavy, or oily products… I just get sucked in by nice sounding things like this and the vatika frosting lol which is another product that is good for shine, but I don’t know if I have been using that correctly

I get a lot of shine just from rinsing with cold water when I wash.  Keeping a good moisture/protein balance will help some with shine as well.

Hi,

Curl Junkie curls in a bottle is my best shine product, use it on wet hair but I also like it on dry hair as a defrizzer/shiner midday.
Hope you find something you like!

Coconut oil is cheap and readily available it absorbs into the hair plus it imparts moisture and shine!

I use Charles Worthington’s All Over Shine spray, because it soaks into my hair and protects my curls from moisture/humidity fluffiness. DON’T spray it straight onto your hair though! Spray onto your hands then scrunch in or you’ll end up greasy!

I agree with OddityofWings that a very cold rinse can create shine naturally!
Also eating well and getting all your vitamins can help create healthy hair which is shinier than non healthy.
Regular trims might also help smile

Good Luck! Sorry that I couldn’t be more help!

I find that also that a cold rinse gives an amazing shine, as well as using Coconut Oil as an antifrizz. Or any other oil that agrees with your hair, for that matter!

I use a mix of coconut and olive oil in order to prevent frizz when taking out twists for a twist out and I find that I get the added bonus of shine doing this smile.

I mix fresh lemon juice with my conditioner when I wash and that helps to close down my cuticle and gives me a shine that last the whole work week in combination with my kccc.  I also put coconut oil on top of my kccc after it dries initially.

let us know how the quest for shine is going!

I actually use Curl Queen as my styler now, sometimes mixed with Curling Custard aswell, but the change in stylers meant I could add more oils to my hair without the CC disagreeing with it. I use KT under CJ because KT gives great shine and softness. I switch between using castor oil, EVOO and johoba oil on my hair. Caster oil out of the 3 gives the better shine for me but I definitely need to get me some coconut oil! most shops I got into have oils with extra perfumes and thing added into it =/

I also quick rinse my hair with cold water like suggested and it definitely makes a difference too ^_^
Thanks everyone!

Holland and Barrett is where I get mine as well. It’s currently sold at £12.59 for 453g unrefined coconut oil but they do have half price or buy one get one free offers on occasionally. Otherwise you could get the refined coconut oil from international food stores for up to £2 for about 500ml.
