Hi guys,
i was after some advice for my 16month old Daughter
Shes mixed of which her dad is Jamaican Indian and i am Black&White; Carribean

She seems to have took her dads Corkscrew curls but they tend to be very dry and nothing i put into her hair seems to keep it moisturised.also at the very back it goes frizzy with odd corkscrew curls inbetween the frizz, and i would say feels like straw

HELPP!!

Hi there S.

Welcome to the site. Im relatively new too and your daughter’s hair sounds very similar to my daughter’s before I found this site! I would say that the key for us was finding out that most of the so called moisturising products that I was using on her hair were in fact causing it to become even drier. So on the advice of various articles on this website I culled all products with sulphates, parabens and cones from her haircare routine. Ive noticed a huge difference. It still becomes dry if I leave it for any length of time but I am now more aware of what things to use that will really be moisturising and how to seal that in with natural oils. Her hair is much softer now and has lost the crunchy feeling - what a relief. I started off with gigantic bottles of tresemme conditioner to co-wash and the Fuzzy Duck trial pack and I am gradually trying out some other things… The best thing for her hair has been finding out how to do twists to protect her hair during the week and twist-out Friday when she wears her hair loose. Ive also been using alot of coconut oil as a ‘pre-poo’ and before her swimming lesson to try and protect her hair from chlorine.

I dont know if any of that helps you… What I would do is to really try and work out what your daughters hair type is and from there seek out advice about products that would suit her. For my daughter I’ve realised that products that are very natural without much in the way of chemicals - seem to really suit her. i think that might be quite a common theme among curlies…
