HAIR UP
...you mentioned that you tie your hair up when you go to the gym….whenever I have my hair tightly pulled back, I experience breakage at the hairline front and sides….

...to combat this (when my hair was long), I would gently twist and clip it with a butterfly clip (no tension) or create a loose bun using a grip to hold the bun in place (no band at the base).

COCONUT OIL TREATMENT
I know you have european hair so wouldn’t want it too greasy - but try using an oil around the front/sides before washday and going to bed.  Coconut oil is amazing - then wash or co-wash your hair as usual in the morning.  Its used all over the Indian subcontinent as a hair treatment.

Coconut oil is absorbed into the hair, has both protein and moisturising properties, and is anti-fungal.  Always use 100% pure coconut oil - they sell it in H&B and also in stores that sell Indian produce as a cooking oil (much cheaper as a smaller bottle!).  The cooking quality is the same - if its good enough to eat, its def good enough for your hair.

All the best. x

Thanks for the advice Livia, I’m on hols at the moment and hair is going to need some serious tlc once I’m back home next week, I bought some Body shop intensive conditioner at the airport which I’ve been slapping on but it’s still looking a mess, I’ve also noticed I’ve got lots more breakage round my hairline underneath, lots of whispy bits of hair at the back of my neck! I’ve tried to wear my hair in a plait but once the winds been blowing a bit all of my breakage whispy bits are let loose and I have this frizzy messy hair sitting on top of the plait like a halo! Ekkkkkk! I’ll get some coconut oil once back in the UK next week and try not to wear it in a ponytail in the meantime.
Thanks!

@curlyhairmich - thank you for the compliment smile

@flower37…
if you are putting it in a plait, you could try not rinsing all the conditioner out or using a leavein.  This should protect and moisturise your hair, and may help to smooth the plait and the shorter hairs around your hairline, reducing the halo effect!!  try plaiting your hair when it is still damp (and ideally without a band at the base) but remember to be gentle.

If there is breakage around the full hairline, it sounds that it may have been due to tight ponytails from the gym….which is good news as easily preventable by ensuring you are more gentle with your hair and make any buns/ponytails looser at the base.

Some people also take hair vitamins (from Holland and Barratt) which are basically a multivitamin tablet high in iron and b-vits.  If you are lacking in any of these, the supplements may help with stronger new growth.

Either way you are doing better than me, I always have the intention to go to the gym but never quite make it!!

Happy holidays!

I have found taking sea kelp and Omega 3 supplements have really helped with my hair!  Could be worth a try; will take about a month for you to notice the difference though.

Hi Guys,

Its still quite dry and frizzy on the top but its looking a bit better than it was, I’m trying not to put it in a pony tail and clip it up instead at the gym which I think is helping and I’ve noticed that I’m not getting as much loss in the shower as I was a couple of months ago, therefore its looking more thick and health.

I’m going to go to Holland and Barratt this weekend and see what I can get in the way of butters etc and will give the Omega 3 a try, I used to take them ages ago because I don’t eat much fish (I hate it!)

I’ve not got alot of my hair cleanser left from the Emporium, so may look at getting something new - any recommendations?  I don’t think my hair likes a co-wash at all.

Thanks! smile
