Hi all

I’m looking for a creme to use for my twists and braids. I’m currently using MJ Baby Buttercreme, which works a treat but its not a cost effective product in that, its too expensive to keep using and I’m not a huge fan of the ingredients. However it has worked well for me so far (so no MJ bashing please in your comments ;p).

I’m looking for a creme that is not too expensive and has all natural ingredients. I’ve heard good things about Darcy’s Botanicals, Fro and Pretty Curls.

Anyone have experience of the above? Any tips are welcome.

p.s. I tried a homemade shea and coconut oil mix. My hair was not a fan!

When my hair was shorter my staple style was micro twists with coiled ends, which lasted the entire week if I used Organic Root Stimulator Twist & Lock Gel, its not expensive (approx £3) and when used on freshly washed hair you really do not need much…

You could give it a try if you haven’t already.

Hi Lela! thank you for the compliments. (Unfortunately) i got my shea moisture products from the US, got a friend to buy me some and send them to me. They are lovely!! right pH and all (i tested). I have recently scaled down my products, have a look at my newest video, literally just uploaded it.
The Donna Marie products are new here on British Curlies, i used to get mine from a webshop here in the Netherlands, but i will be getting the Dream Curling Cream from here in the future!

It’s funny that you should mention Jackylou’s reviews and recommendations lela7 , because based on these I bought some Bee Mine Curly Butter and it gives me great twists and twist-outs. But the Donna Marie Dream Curling Cream sounds superior!

hiya!! thank you and to me the Donna Marie is better in my hair (better hold, less frizz, better definition, and fab wash and goes as well). i do have to say though that the Bee Mine products are excellent quality and most of what i have tried had a great pH (between 4 and 6). I haven’t tested the pH of Donna Marie products, forgot to, and i have run out.

Co-wash- Tresseme naturals( nourishing moisture)
Conditioner- AOHSR
Leave in -KCKT
Styler-Shea mix ( castor, coconut and olive oils)
Moisturizer water/jojoba spritz +/-KCKT 2xdaily with shea mix on top.

Have you been able to get this product in the uk?

not available in the UK yet. i used to get mine from the US (friends would send me some). Hope they do bring it over here, especially here at British Curlies, would be wonderful, great range of products!

I recently used Elasta QP olive oil and mango butter moisturiser for a twist out. Really liked the results.
