Ok Curlies, I know this topic may have been done to death but I am seeking clarification on how to eliminate product build up from my hair.  On youtube people swear by baking soda shampoo followed by applecider vinegar rinse.  I know that you can get clarifying shampoos.  Are there any on the highstreet? after using a clarifying shampoo do you just condition as usual? or can you just use an nonsulfate shampoo to reduce buildup? Any help muuuuuuuuuuch appreciated,

Any high street brand with sulphates like SLS works fine for me! I like to use pink shampoo - gets my hair super squeaky clean from product buildup.

Just like lela7. I would consider most standard shampoo’s with SLS if I want to clarify. For example I like to use Aussie moist/mega shampoo. It promises to ‘‘rinse clean, no buildup’’ and it does a good job. Readily available at most supermarkets, superdrug boots etc

Then deep condition afterwards to return the moisture.
Life need not be complicated.

Maybe I shouldn’t be, but I’m really sceptical about using apple cider vinegar on my hair as I feel I will do more harm than good due to inexperience in using it. I may try using up my highly stripping Naked shampoo as a once a month clarifying shampoo though. I agree with Ketchup, definitely deep condition afterwards Lyn smile.

In total agreement with the 3 previous posts. My spirit has warned me against using ACV & BS so I’m gonna stay clear of both….dunno I just have a “bad bad feeling” about them grin
Plus I have thirsty hair and it would take too much conditioning to get my hair back into a decent state after using such harsh solutions.

Hello Lyn,

SLS is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. You may want to check out the sticky post below to become more familiar with abbreviations and acronyms smile.
