I really can’t make up my mind about this one.  I really really want to like it - that price LOL - but it’s odd stuff.

I first tried it a few years ago, before I went CG, and hated it.  Tried it again at the beginning of the year, still no good.  But then thought I’d give it another chance a few weeks ago and thought I’d got it sussed….but then this week it’s back to being disastrous.  I think it’s the alcohol in it drying my hair out and making it go extremely fuzzy.  But I quite like what it does to my curl pattern. Sigh.

Signature

Random hair! A real mixture of waves, curls and ringlets ~ or maybe Wavy-Botticelli. Slightly on the coarse side of medium, normal porosity.  Low-poo since Feb 2011.

Current favourites:

Rinse-out: Naked Rescue
Styling: CJ CIAB and/or CCCCL, Lush Big Tease, Shockwaves Tuff Stuff

I don’t like it either, dries me out. Only ever used one pot and that was well over 12 months ago. I wanted to love it, but na, not for me.

Signature

Curly end of wavy. I get chunky ringlets and some elongated S shapes.  Fairly dense, medium texture, medium porosity.

Rotation is key for me.  Get on well with most Curl Junkie products especially CQ, CIAB, PP for stylers, Hard hold gel on top; usually BRHG.  Also CJ protein treatments.
Other stuff B&A Gel, EO conditioners, GFRS, Hairveda Sitrinnillah, Joico K-Pak reconstruct, Afroveda TT and CL butters.

It’s about average… or slightly less. It has good hold and doesn’t stay wet as long as other products… but it does dry my hair out a lot. The price makes it very tempting to resort to though.

I want to love it, based on the price and the amount needed therefor making the tub last for ages….

but hair days are very hit and miss with it, plus I don’t care for the smell. It’s ok as a back up product but not really sure if I like it to have it in my rotation on the regular.

I love this stuff!  Have tried lots of products during my many years of trying to maintain my curls and i loved this when i found it!  Might be that you are using too much of it, i only need to use a little bit and that seems to do the trick!

I’ve given it loads of chances, every combination of quantity and application technique LOL.  It does work best in small quantities, with wet hands and on wet hair….but nope, still dries my hair out.  But I get great curls for a few days.

I think it’s going to be one of those things that I always have in the house (mainly because I’ll never finish a pot, it lasts forever!) for emergencies but isn’t going to go on my list of stuff for every day.

I like it!  It’s a bit drying but at that price I just put up with it.  Since last week I’ve started putting a bit of oil in my leave in conditioner and that seems to be combating the dryness smile

confused I started off liking it but quickly realised it poofed my hair and made it dry and frizzy. I’ve still got pretty much a full tub which I’m keeping hold of (I’m a hoarder by nature) in the hope that I’ll try it in future and get a different outcome (it’s a long shot, but ever the optimist!)

Signature

grin Curl Type : Boticelli, 3A, loose curls.
Porosity : High
Texture : Fine/medium (I think!)
Gels : Umberto Giannini Curl Friends Scrunching Jelly
Co-wash/rinse out/leave in : Garnier Fructis Repair and Shine, L’oreal Elvive Full Restore, Original Source Almond and Coconut
Finishing product : A pea-sized blob of condish smoothed over canopy to tame frizzies and flyaways.
CG since Feb 2011.

yeah i tried it many different ways as a styler for a pseudo wash and go as a twisting cream and diluted as a refresher. really did not like it so threw it away, it lasts for ages!

Thanks, mims! :D That photo is quite old, when it was a bit too long for my curl pattern. I haven’t taken a picture of my new haircut yet… and I just washed it, so it’s all wet and not very photogenic. But watch this space! smile

As for smell, my partner really likes the smell of the pink boots creme. I don’t mind it too much, but it’s a bit too chemically if I was going to be picky. But I do recommend it as a backup if all else goes wrong, because it does do its job! I might try adding an oil to my leave-in like Aurora. What oil do you use?

I use Peach Kernel Oil which I got previously from an aromatherapy shop to use for massage.  It’s a base oil so it doesn’t really smell of anything.  I don’t know about whether it’s especially good for hair or not, I just had it lying around so I thought I’d try using it smile  It seems to be going well though!

I love this stuff at the moment! Cheap and working well. My hair’s quite short (chin length at the front but shorter out back), so maybe that’s why it works? I thought it was failing completely today, but I seemingly hadn’t used enough. Most curlies who use this say to use very little, but I actually have to use a reasonable amount. It works fine though, and I only have to wash my hair twice a week! Never noticed dryness, but I use Aussie Miracle Moist and Aussie ‘Regeneration’ 3 Minute Miracle whenever I wash, so maybe this helps.

I have definitely bought and used some, but I’m not sure where it’s disappeared to and can’t remember how it performed. I don’t think I even gave it a second chance downer !

Maybe I should just use it and accept the dryness…and up the moisture treatments a bit I’m very lazy about DTs of any kind red face .  Actually, I guess I could just not use it every day and alternate it with other stuff, if only to make the expensive stuff last longer LOL
