Hi
I go to a salon in Cardiff. Heaven 4 hair on City Road. Michelle is my stylist and she has learnt to do the tunnel cut that Jonathan Torch uses and also skip curls it.

Most importantly she knows how nervous I get and listens to what I want and only ever cuts the bare minimum off knowing it shrinks.
I can honestly say I am happier with my hair now than I have ever been. grin

Hi hayleyjayne!  I live in Bristol so that is quite close to me.  How much does she charge for a cut? grin

Hi,
off the top of my head its either £29.95 or £39.95 sorry my mind is a blank.
Michelle is one of the owners so it costs more. the number is 02920 472666.
my hair is course and grows into a triangle so the tunnel cut suits me. but everyone is different.

Thats fantastic, I live near cardiff so will defiantely give her a call.  I’m scared to death of haing mine cut since I went curly.  I could probably mamage another few months before I’m due for a trim but I’ve never had a proper curly cut before.

I know how you feel, i have had so many bad experiences with hair cuts. Hair dressers just don’t seem to know how to deal with it. One hair dresser actually said to me that he could see i had a problem and couldn’t help and suggested i went else where !
It’s taken me many years some of them spent straightening and dreading rain lol but I can honestly say mostly I love it now. i hope it works out for you. grin

At least he was honest, its the ones who carry on regardless and leave you looking like an eighties throwback that worry me the most.

Unfortunately my regular salon is just down that road (there are a lot of them!), so I would feel like a bit af a traitor!  I do love my regular salon, and my hairdresser there was the one who convinced me to go curly but he still cuts it as if its straight.  The cut has always been quite good though, I just want to try out somehting new to see what difference it makes.

Yes, I know what you mean.  My hairdresser is lovely and she cuts my hair as if it was straight, but I would like to try someone different.  Unfortunately there dosn’t seem to be anyone in the Bristol or Clevedon area, Cardiff is the nearest so far and I would probably have to make a day of it lol - what a shame having to wonder around the shops in Cardiff lol smile

I think most of the new shopping centre is open now as well, and the hair dressers is pretty close to the city centre….....

Actually I have just booked an appointment for saturday, eeeek!

Yeah I booked Michelle but didn’t get to talk to her yet as she was busy.  I think I’ll try and give her a call tomorrow, more for my own peace of mind than hers!

Do you take your own products in?  I never have before and I don’t really know what to say!  I’ve done a bit of research and she clearly knows her stuff when it comes to cutting, but does she understand about being CG?

Ooooh, I’m really excited and scared at the same time!

i agree go and talk to her first she is very approachable and talks to me in depth every time to see if we need to make any changes. i don’t take my own stuff in i am CG at home but don’t worry too much when i have it cut as it is only every 4 - 5 months, but talk to her about it.
when i first went to her i took loads of info on the tunnel cut. I had been to loads of salons and they dismissed it totally or seemed to read it differently to me.
Michelle hadn’t heard of it but she read it the same as me and i trusted her enough to let her have a go on me she only put a few tunnels in to start with but as time has gone on she has added more depending on what i know about my hair.
i don’t think the tunnel is right for everyone but it suits me.
i love my CHS and haven’t found enything better although like most curly girls i still spend a fortune just in case some thing is better lol
Good luck

Hey there, I just spoke with Michelle on the phone and she is lovely!  All prepared now to go in and hand my curls over to her!

I did breifly mention the CG method, I think at the moment she has in mind that I never wash my hair at all and just spray lightly with water to re-activate the curls, but I’ll take in larraine masseys book and my products and see how it goes.  She did say that she would replicate whatever I do at home, but would go through what the salon products are made up of and how they work just in case i change my mind for next time.

I’m actually really excited now - I’ll be like a little kid on Christmas eve tonight!

Miltus1, if you are strugglig to find a local salon I think Michelle would be worth a trip across the bridge.  If you want any more details please send me a personal message.
