Hi all, I’ve merged all the CG product queries into one thread. Hopefully this will now be an easily accessible place to check if someone has already asked about whether your product is CG friendly.  Maybe this will save some of you typing out all the ingredients!  If not, please feel free to add to it and someone will be along shortly with some advice smile TallGirl Xxx

I got some Curly Q’s Curly Cutie Cream Cleanser for my kids and I really love it. It smells gorgeous, and has left their hair fabulous….but I have just noticed it has a -cone… It has “dimethicone PEG-7 avocadoate ” Now I am guessig that the PEG indicates it is water soluble…but I’m not totally sure as I’ve not come across it formulated like this before.
Do you think it will cause problems with build up?
I am low-pooing their hair from time to time (infact this is a low- poo LOL) so I’m hoping it will be ok,.....any views?

“A combination of polyethylene glycol and glyceryl cocoate (derived from coconut oil) to form a type of sucrose (sugar) extract. It is a mild cleansing agent and emollient that breaks up fat on the skin’s surface without stripping the skin’s natural oils or causing dryness. Rinses completely from the skin with water. It may be used in place of sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate, which are both drying and stripping for the skin.”

Hi Poppins I cam across this definition from a website that manufacturers natural products http://www.healthspecialty.com/ingredients.html

Hope this helps cheese

Sorry coolshot it’s not water soluble.  You would need to use a sulphate shampoo to wash it out (co washing wouldn’t get it out). confused

ps you could just use it till its finished and then do a suphate (but no cones) poo to get it out rather than waste it if you find it works on your hair?  I think in these times of credit crunch you just have to do what’s best for yourself and not worry about it HTH grin

The quat at the beginning might not be so good, but if you don’t get any build-up, you shouldn’t discount it smile

Yep not CG but I agree with sexyjacksparrow overall it looks great! Which is a suprise to me cause I have bought stuff from Lush in the past and been disappointed by the huge amount of chemicals they use and did’nt much care for the stuff I got. But if you do go ahead let us know what you think of this one smile

Well yes the sulfate wouldnt be Cg friendly . BUT on the positive side it does have some nice stuff in and is -cone free LOL It has lots of stuff that looks nice and moisturising. And it has eggs in which would be great for protein, unless protein sensitive!
Maybe if they did a conditioner from this line it would be ok, if they didnt put -cones in!
And yu know you could always hang on to this incase you ever needed a calrifying shampoo for any reason….

well that has got to be the weirdest shampoo i gave ever used! was a texture like solid coconut oil… and was full of dessicated coconut bits that were annoying to get out… my hair felt horrible when it was being shampooed, horrible when i rinced it all out (eventually), nice when it got condish in it… horrible when i’d rinsed the condish out… and ok when i put more condish in as leave in… we’ll have to wait til i take my hair out of plop for the final results… i dont have much hope of it looking/feeling any good! hope theres no bits of coconut still in there or else it will look like major dandruff! lol…

Oh that’s a shame downer also girls, ammonium lauryl sulpahte isn’t as damaging as the other ‘phates they use out there. Mixed chicks use it in their shampoo.

StormVixen, were the ingredients you posted cut and paste from the website or from the actual tub you had?

The only reason I ask is that apparently Lush changed the formula recently from having dessicated coconut (which sounds like what you experienced) to creamed coconut (which was in the list you gave) because of people complaining about the coconut bits. So it may be you have the old version and the new one would be better.
