A bit about what I’ve been doing. Last hair cut Nov 2010. So I thought I would grow my hair, I’ve not had long hair for a couple of years. Mostly had bob length hair which was also very highlighted.
The end of 2008 I had a reaction to a box hair dye and went for allergy testing, which showed I have a ppd allergy. This started me looking into looking for a natural way to dye my hair. And started growing out the highlights, still have about 2 inches just at the front left.
I started doing henna glosses about 2 months ago, which I love. Has made my hair thicker and its in much better condition.
Now for the curly part. Only recently found my waves, just started co, but I cwc once a week. Gave up using straightners and now use a diffuser for drying.
So I have bought Boots essentials curl cream and UG curls friends scruching jelly. My first attempt, I co, raked through curl cream into wet hair. Plopped for 15mins, then scrunched in some jelly. And pixie diffused hair. Results slight frizz, stingy curls, not enough clumps. So although not that successful, when I bushed through ( I know should’nt brush) with a vent brush it looked quite pretty. And it did last till second day.
Today I have bought some boots gel, and I will try it next time to see how it goes.
If anyone has any tips for getting better clumps please let me know smile I will update when I have tried again, wish me luck:)

I have very different curls to you but use the same products: boots curl creme and purple gel. I’m not very familiar with waves so your hair may act very differently to mine, but plopping inbetween creme and gel seems a bit weird to me! Perhaps thats why your waves were stringy. People often find clumping easier is they have soaking wet hair. My suggestion is to condition your hair, make sure your hair is basically soaking, rake in the creme then scrunch in the gel. Then you can plop for a while to dry it, then diffuse it to completely dry it and get a bit more volume.
To be honest, aslong as brush through your hair is causing too much breakage I don’t really think it matters. I personally cannot even get a comb through dry hair so its not something I would do! If you like the results though, go for it. Its what you want to do. Its a big thing on the catwalks at the moment to have big cherrybomb hair!
I hope that helps but, maybe someone with similar hair to yours will be able to help you a bit more!

Hey Pixie - the only one thing I would try different would be to apply the UG jelly straight after the Boots Curl Cream while it’s still soaking wet - instead of plopping for 15 mins then applying it.

I know if was to try it the way you said, I’d also get a frizzy & stringy result - so worth a try.

You can always add a further blob of gel after you have plopped for additional hold - hope that helps!

This is what I did today
Co with Boots essentials pink conditioner, RO Fructis shine and repair
While soaking wet put on boots curl cream and then scrunched in more water as recommended on nc.
Then put on ug jelly. Plopped for about 15 mins. Then scrunched with microfibre cloth and pixie diffused. Left side came out better than the rest. Hopefully I will get better results the more I do this, I hope, lol smile

Today I’ve noticed that I have some snapped hairs, these are just on the sides, not all over. This where I have some old bleached highlights still to grow out :( Not sure whether to get a trim or some layers put in, will have to think about that.
I thought my hair was well moisturised, but I guess its not. I did a smt on Friday with tresemme naturals conditioner, avg and honey. I’ve been using avg for awhile, maybe my hair doesn’t like it? All advice unappreciated smile

I’m back and going to try cg again. I have ordered some curl junkie samples from nc. Also have some shea moisture smoothie coming to me. I will update when I have used these products.
Will start co washing again.  I have been using the cwc method and airdrying.
I now know that avg caused my hair to snap, so do not use anymore. Hair likes olive oil and avacado dt’s, which helped with breakage. Also did not get on with boots curl cream and gel:(
Hope my new products come soon smile

I had my shea moisture smoothie come today, woohoo, so of course I had to use it smile
This is what I did.  I cwc’d with boots essentials conditioner ears down, low poo’d with tresemme naturals moisture shampoo, rinsed everything out. Put tresemme naturals moisture condioner on by scrunching into hair, left on for a few mins, rinsed out. scrunched out excess water, plopped for 20 mins ish. Then scrunched in the shea moisture, scrunched with a microfibre cloth, clipped, and left to dry.
Quite happy with results, hope to get better results as time goes on.
Probably need a gel on top, not sure what one to use. Do not like boots gel or ug jelly.
Hopefully my cj sample’s will come next week, looking forward to trying them:)

Ok so tried out my cj samples today.
I used daily fix, very thick, smells ok. Then bc argan and olive oil condiotioner, smells amazing, not great a detangler though, then ciab, plopped for about 15 mins, then scrunched in some ccccl and Pixie diffused. Better results than last time. Loving the scent of the cj products. Still have smoothing daily hair conditioner and beauticurls leave in conditioner to try, and I think still enough of the daily fix, bc argan and olive oil conditioner, ciab and ccccl to use again. Any recommendations on using the products would be really welcome smile

I needed a lo poo today, so used tesemme naturals, then the cj smoothing daily hair conditioner, much more slip than the avacado and olive oil. Left on for a few mins, combed through then rinsed out. Used ciab then plopped for about 15 mins. Scrunched in some ugcf jelly and pixie diffused. Definitely getting more wave/curl.
I want to get a full size ciab and probably a cccl as well. I have ordered some db pumpkin seed conditioner because of the great reviews on here grin

Today I washed with boots pink conditioner, conditioned with db pumpkinseed conditioner (yummy smell) .
Plopped for 15 mins. I had a sample of db coils curling jelly, so scrunched in some then diffused. Nice waves, not as good as the curl junkie products though.

Well I am trying cg again grin
My hair is near bsl now, all one length.
I did a pt treatment yesterday, then scrunched in some ccccl, and air dried. See pic. http://s1121.photobucket.com/albums/l514/pixiestar13/CG/?action=view&current=IMG_4996.jpg
I am looking for a good curl enhancing product. So if anyone can recommend one it would be appreciated grin I am hoping to get AG recoil from someone on NC, just waiting to hear back. Thought I would try as it has such great reviews grin
