Thanks, starting to co-wash every other wash, as have a lot of shampoo to use up, and still using products with ‘cones’ in. Been doing this for a week, and not had a bad hair day so far!

Hey all! I’m 26. And yep, feeling a lot like it’s about time I got a lot more ‘sorted’ than I am! I used to be sure that 26 year-olds were supposed to have things far more under control than this wink

Hey clo-clo I think it is great you are learning how to love your curls at such an early age - only took me 36 years to figure out what to do with my hair LOL rolleyes

I straightened it for years up until last summer. Then noticed just how damaged it was (it had started to fall out), and gradually stopped straightening it. Now only get it straightened at the hairdressers, cos I know it will never dry nicely after being cut.

26… so not how I thought things were going to be when I got to 26 gulp

What do you mean?
I thought I’d be so grown up and like starting a career or getting a degree or something at 19. Definitely not living at home… perhaps not though lol.

Yeah I always imagined when you’re 26 you’re completely sorted. Imagined I’d have chosen a career be progressing in it, have bought a house, maybe married and possibly planning to have kids in a few years and none of that is accurate surprised

I mean life is was it is, and I wouldn’t change anything about my life or what I’ve done just always thought people at my age now knew what they were doing and still haven’t got a clue.

x

Well I don’t think life runs that smoothly for anyone, I moved away from my parents and back again constantly through my 20’s (I think they thought they’d never get rid of me lol) I didn’t meet my partner until I was 29 and had my first baby at 31, still not married as we decided to waste no time and have kids first LOL  Believe everything happens for a reason, I can see now how everything that happened in my 20’s has brought me to the place/person I am now.

I’m 34 btw grin

Forty flippin’ six - and those years have literally flown by! And, sorry girls, I am so NOT gonna let those greys see the light of day! I don’t like the bloody texture of them (wiry!) so I just know I am not gonna like the look of them!  angry  It is a pain in the bum having to have a root colour every six weeks, in between the highlights - I used to be able to just have highlights every three months until quite recently. The root colour thing is quite weird as I have to go darker than my natural colour to cover the grey - but at least it is only a semi (although my colourist said it is not taking quite so well anymore so he may have to make some adjustments!!) The things we do for our hair! LOL LOL

I know we really do go to all ends to get the job done LOL I am not ready to go grey either! We will make a stand together CrystalTips! cheese

Same with me, I’m 29 and full of greys that I beat into submission on a six-weekly basis, although I don’t think anyone’s noticed that my dark slightly purple hair with auburn highlights isn’t natural!!!!!! I moslty work with blokes who don’t tend to think too much about that kind of thing!

One major question though, what do you do when you get your colour done?  Do you DIY, do most have sulphates in?  I get mine done at the salon at the moment, but I’m too scared to tell my hairdresser that I’m CG, they noramlly blitz my hair with sulphates when I get there and then layer on the silicones before I leave.

Since I’ve been fully CG I haven’t needed colour but the day is fast approaching…....

I go to a salon - the different kinds of colour I need would be too trixy for me to do myself - it’s what I like to call an ‘essential’ expense, a bit like food! LOL

Don’t be scared to tell them about your new regime - it’s your hair and you are the customer. I spoke to my hairdresser beforehand and said I would like to bring my own stuff - including stylers - and they were fine with it (although my stylist said ‘even the stylers!?’ - I think he was just wondering how he might get a good result with what I would bring in - he’s quite attached to the TiGi curls rock styler that he uses on all his curly customers - it is one of the better ones - even tho’ it does have cones!).

What kind of colour do you have - tint, semi? If it’s a semi, the chances are you won’t even need a low poo - I took one along yesterday but my colourist said it wasn’t strictly necessary as I was just having a semi on the roots and he said emulsifying it with water as they rinse it out is enough. I decided to let them use it anyway but I wish I hadn’t now as it feels really dry! If it’s a tint - then a low poo might be a good idea but you don’t need a sulphate poo. Ring them beforehand and just explain your new routine and how happy you are with it. If they refuse to accommodate you - then I’d have a little think about changing salons - but hopefully they will be fine with it.

grin
