hello to all! letters on mac aren’t workin so this is oin to e time consumin ahhh!

okay where to start i finally ave up on the rainforest condish from ody shop, and instead picked up smooth as silk from iovanni! really likin it had my first try today, lathered up really nicely hair felt smooth and even squeaked a little! detanlin wise i’m not sure yet thouh my hair was rather knotted up (rouh week) so we’ll try aain next week. i also received a free sample of darcy otanicals natural coils curlin jelly, which was a nice surprise, i’m assumin this is similar to KCCC?? much lihter than eco styler which is a plus as i felt it was a little it on the sticky side, this seemed to work well into the hair thouh i may have een sparin as it’s only a sample size, i put on a shower cap and applied heat for five minutes and removed for air dry. i don’t have a leave in so don’t know if that would make the jelly work etter, either way happy happy with results!!

Your hair looks lovely smile I like the DB’s curling jelly as well, I always use a leave in under it, works great for me. I get 3 day hair out of that.

Hey all, I’m becoming a bit more sporadic with this diary (so many things going on, thats not curly!!)

Well as we can all see winter is finally setting it’s foot in the door and i have yet to buy my winter coat of 2011! EEk!
Any way back to the hair smile originally I was all for doing protective styles throughout winter because that’s what was being sold to me, but after looking on youtube there are a few vloggers who are saying it’s not really necessary to do so, which tbh is a relief as my hair after a twist out is looking a little odd (i don’t think i have the styling right - may try new/different partings) so i’m think a very, very, very moistured and hydrated TWA for the winter.

I still haven’t bought the DB jelly, as i went back to eco styler got such great curls this time round as i used my home made creme straight after washing and then gunked on the eco styler - alas as great as my hair looked it was seriously crunchy gulp so i’m in two minds should i purchase DB curling jelly - (i had some crunch with this as well, but not as bad) keep with the eco (i’m not going to get rid of it, but i may use in the future for slicking down/edges) or should i distress my bank balance and test some of the KCCC (this one seems to have the best reviews, though i’m a little sceptic with having to use KCNT as I think i have found a staple in Giovanni’s SAS)

In other curly news, been suffering from a really itchy scalp, think maybe the winter is drying it out, or something else, i dunno but i’ll try and find an answer!

Hello!!!

Well it’s been a while, first off merry xmas/happy new year!
where to start?

Okay so I’ve had a complete products overhaul, and think i’ve found stuff that work with my hair time in time out (yay!)

I’ve kept my home made moisturiser as this is still great on couple of day old twist outs, keeps hair very soft and has allowed me to wear my hair out without any problems over the weeks.
I purchased the Hydra Silica Mist and this seems to be a wonderful upgrade from just misting my hair with water daily - also works well with my Giovanni Smooth as Silk when detangling (just read the label again, it does say it work for detangling, so i weren’t just making that up!!) My only gripe is that the bottle is a little small so i do find that it finishes quicker than i want but it leaves my hair feeling moisturised daily which is important (have had fellow naturals surprised by how soft my hair is now compared to before)

My second new product is Darcy Botanicals curl moisturising creme (think thats the name) I tend to use this when i do twists as when i take them out they seem a lot more defined than previous, and finally Hairveda’s SitriNillah Deep Conditioner < such a step up from the Curl Junkie Deep fix which i’ve learnt just didn’t suit my hair at all, made it feel gummy and heavy whereas this is so light in my hair - and i use quite a lot, under a shower cap for half an hour my hair feels great! I first received it as a sample for one of my previous purchases and took the plunge and bought the massive tub!

So over the weeks i’ve had my hair in twists, as i’m being lazy and am only now confident i can have my hair out, because i’ve found some great products.
I can do larger twists than previous (yay!) as those smaller ones were way too time consuming, i’m starting to prefer doing my hair dry or 80% dry, i get a better stretch so my hair doesn’t curl into itself < this is the problem is had when i tried to do single plaits, my hair just curled up at the ends making it very hard to take out without getting massive knots at the end downer

In terms of growth i haven’t measured with a ruler since November, but am not really fussed - i try to take a mental note of where it got up to, so right now the hair at the sides are half way between my neck and collarbone etc..

Any hoo some pics of the length check and twist out.

Okay one more thing!!

I’m really liking at the moment redoing my twists after a twist out, i seem to get more volume - the bigger the better!
I actually didn’t use the Darcy’s Botanicals creme this time round as it was spur of the moment and only had my home made moisturiser, which isn’t horrible when used with my twist but there is a difference when using Darcy’s Botanicals. However i did spray daily using Hydra Silica so this may of had an effect.

I had the original twists for a week (see previous post) took them out friday (party!) and re did them on saturday, took them out this morn and loved the results - though admittedly there were some tangled areas this time round but it was small and may be due to the fact it was spur of the moment!!

Pics below (i have a new camera, thank you jeebus grin )

Cheers curlyhairmich!!!

Okay so this is late night edition curl entry!! Believe it or not i’ve been doing my hair since about six and im not even fully dry yet!
So i decided to wash the hair today as i could feel tangles and fairy knots so i proceeded co-wash with smooth as silk, protein treatment then deep condition with sitrinillah. Now in one of my earlier entries i wrote how my hair seemed to have a layer of frizz above the curls, originally i thought that it was relaxed ends and proceeded to chop them off and think that i had sent them into oblivion…NO as my hair has grown so has this layer of frizz, i have no idea what it is as it doesn’t even have a curl pattern it’s just bone straight hairs that are everywhere, so far i’ve gotten away with this using the ol’ twists/twist outs method, but as great as that is it’s getting tiresome doing it and i’m starting to worry if i’ll leave my hair out because it’s so obvious (i’ll take a picture sometime next week so you can better understanding as this might not make sense!!)

So i remembered me having my big tub of eco styler, but when i tried this time round it seemed to make it worse - frizz had becoming hanging bits of string downer anyhoo so i went on a youtube search and found MsVCharles (she’s really funny) and she had a vid with her using the eco styler and defining coils: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SQO11Xej14&feature=relmfu
I had been saved!!
Firstly i did a couple of things differently i did part into sections because my hair when wet is only like 2.5 inches and frizzed so no no to sectioning,, she said use castor oil but i used coconut instead as this was only for sealing, and lastly i used my curl junkie deep fix as a leave in - it does say it can be used as a leave in but i think it’s a bit rubbish on my hair, but i had to make do with what i had!!

So i followed the instructions which are (if you don’t want to watch the video): Part hair in to sections, start with one section, Detangle, Apply leave in/Water, Add oil, Add Gel, Detangle > Continue on next section.

Pic below, i’ll put the semi-results in the next post

Part Deux!

Right so after you’ve done that you need to start drying, now i started to blow dry and it seems to be mostly dry - you can start o tell because the reside/white bits fade away, but i’m not finished yet because said white bits are still here!

But this technique actually worked, withh this i can curl up the frizzed/straight bits and they can blend in, my only gripe about this is that this a bit tough on short hair (i can see why you need to have the hair in sections), and i think i won’t be trying this out until the summer because i feel a bit of extra length would make this a lot easier, also im gonna have to figure out how to get all this gunk out - Curl junkie deep fix a bit too heavy for a leave in no matter what it says!

You must have hand in hair syndrome with that lush hair of yours chan_p wink . I have had my hair bunned most of the time now because any breeze robs it of moisture and I’m missing it free and loose looking at yours..

You must have hand in hair syndrome with that lush hair of yours chan_p wink . I have had my hair bunned most of the time now because any breeze robs it of moisture and I’m missing it free and loose looking at yours..

Ha ha ha, I always give the stern look and follow with ask before you touch! oh NaturalMane i WISH i could have my hair bunned - like i am literally counting the days smile like it’s nice having it out but it’s weird as i had my hair bunned away in the last weeks of transitioning, and i liked it!

so ive been away for awhile, so many things going on! so i really need to change my sig (think i said that last time round!) um so hydrasilica has ran out gulp so i’ve just been using water for the time being, i mean it’s doing the job but oh hydrasilica will be back next payday…in haste i went to black hair shop to find something remotely similar blank stare i had to settle for taliah wajiid’s cleansing mist thing, while its oookay….. okay being it helps detangle, not okay is the random ingriedients i have never heard of - dmdm??? and the dettol smell << this is no hydrasilica LOL so that is collecting dust, i finally threw out my Curl junkie deep fix, i know i could of sold it to someone but no it just had to go (although its just in the waste basket so if anyone wants it - let me know!) also bought tresseme naturals shampoo, as i just need that extra cleanse been using it every two weeks, along with my a’kin protein conditioner, hairveda sitrillnilah, and then an ACV rinse < i know that may sound alot, but considering the amount of product, sealing, misting this has been the best thing for my hair and it seems to be coping well with it!

also washing your hair in twists!! why oh why had i never done this before - less sheding, less wet face and less frizz woop! but as much as my hair has enjoyed this, i am now in a product fix - see when i detangle with giovanni SAS my hair hangs and the curls look good enough to eat, now i need to figure out a way of doing this as a hairstyle - a.k.a. a decent wash and go!!

Now i think the key to this is a good leave-in conditioner as this seems to be the general way to do this as seen on youtube and on this very forum. But uh which leave in??? was thinking about tresseme naturals but i’m not to sure, the shampoo used alone can be very drying, so don’t want the same for the condish.

I’ve narrowed it down to Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion and Hairveda Whipped Creme Ends Hydration budget wise i’m sliding towards hairveda, and because of hydrasilica and sitrillnilah < (have no idea how you spell that ha ha!) making it three out of three? so i think i might order the sample and check out how my hair reacts! if anyone has any good tips for how to apply leave ins it would be massively thankful!!

and thank you all for encouraging words, i have no idea how to do multiple quotes but tripleA thanks feel like i’m getting the hang of this for good now - it’s only been 9 months!
