Hi everyone, this thread is more for the people who have been to visit Matthew James in Birmingham. I want to see if we can do something about the fact that Matthew is pretty much unknown outside of this here forum.
When i last went to visit him i mentioned that he must be getting known now within the hairdressing industry. He’s reply was “No not really. The industry as a whole doesn’t not look into what i do here and that curly hair need’s to be looked at differently. I get the feeling they don’t take me seriously.”
Shocked at his words, i felt sad. Matthew has worked hard to get where he is, and has fully embraced us curly girls. On top of that, when you read all the reviews about him, he is actually REALLY good!!
So, never to be proven wrong i went out my way to email the fellowship for british hairdressing (http://www.fellowshiphair.com) I wanted to bring to their attention not only that Matthew is typically what the fellowship is all about in that it’s there to represent the top hairdressers and the highest quality with standout individuals. I wrote about britishcurlies, what it has done for us curly girls and about Matthew, how he has become one of the best (if not the best) in the country at curly hair. How he has changed us curlies here in the UK.
That was nearly 3 months ago, and i’m gobsmacked to say i’ve heard nothing back in return, not even a “thanks for the email, we’ll look into it.”
I’d really hate to have to go back to Matthew in a few weeks time, tell him what i’ve done, only for him to have that smug smile on his face and him tell me “I told you so.”
So at risk of turning into some Matthew James groupie I’m putting this out to all you curly girls that have been to visit Matthew. I would be very grateful if you all could send a little email to this website outlining what Matthew has done for you, how far you travel just because what he can do with your curls, direct them to this website with links like i have, just so that maybe they get so many that they have to do something and not ignore us.
Then maybe we might just end up with a figurehead of our own, flying the flag for curly girls here in the UK.
The email address i used was .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Also if any one else knows of any other hairdressing authorities to send requests to let us know.
Many thanks in advance
Sarah
