Hello again everyone!  I’ve been away for SUCH a long time that I think my diary has disappeared so have to start a new one.

Anyhoo, I have remained 100% CG since I left but probably the reason I was away so long, among other things, was that I hadn’t really been taking care of my hair much.  My OH and I moved from St Helena to (sort of) nearby Ascension Island in January which seemed to cause me to neglect my hair further.  It’s nearer the equator here so much hotter than St Helena and often pretty windy due to its location and size (smaller even that St H).  Due to the heat and me not really getting on with my hair, I tended to wear it up all the time.

However, GOOD NEWS.  A few weeks ago, in a bit of a fit of frustration and a sort of half-hearted Britney moment, instead of waiting to go to the hairdresser, I took the kitchen scissors to it myself!  It went from below shoulder length to just below chin length.  Amazingly enough, I did a pretty decent job!  After that, I decided to experiment, combining my CG ways with how I used to style my hair back when it looked pretty grand.

So.  I co-washed with some nice Aloe Vera conditioner, followed by some of my Aubrey Organics.  Then I put in some Curls in a Bottle, some Garnier Fructis mousse (I used to use mousse religiously) and then a bit of gel.  I did a semi-plop, not putting my hair on top of my head, just kind of tying it off my neck with the t-shirt.  A couple of hours later I diffused it dry but DID actually touch it and scrunch it the way I used to.

Result - LOVELY, bouncy, voluminous curls.  I got a good three days out of it before it started looking like it needed doing again.  I am a happy bunny.  I really like this new length - it is so much more manageable.  I can just take it out of my scrunchie, flick it about a bit and I’m ready to go.  Hope everyone is well on here.  I’ve been on the Digital Spy Big Brother forums this week a bit too avidly so I’ll check out this forum a bit more to try and wean myself off I think :D

Cheers CHM (hug back)!  Nice to be back.  smile  Not quite so cheery with my hair today, mind you!  I think I was a bit heavy handed with the kitchen scissors now…..ooops!  Never mind though, it’ll grow!

Dearie me, I’m crap at keeping up with this these days.  I’ve no excuse either as the OH and I are between contracts at the mo so we’re not short of spare time!

I think I’ve finally worked my hair out, which is good.  I think I’ve been weighing it down far too much with products since I started my CG journey.  It is actually quite fine hair, I believe, I just have a lot of it.

Been doing a lot of exercise of late and swimming or running every day but Saturdays so the hair has been pulled back a lot and seems to be wet 75% of the time thesedays!  This Friday I put a conditioner under my swimming cap, swam for an hour, took the cap off and went in the sauna for ten minutes, rinsed the conditioner off, put in leave-in and then put in just L’oreal mousse.  It dried naturally and was the nicest it’s been for ages.  My new regime is going to be a simple one called Moisture and Mousse.  I really think that’s all I need.  It’s kind of returning to what I used to do as a teen and 20-something (though I shampoo-ed then) and my hair was fabulous at that time!

I’m hoping it grows out reasonably quickly.  I’m regretting giving myself a DIY cut with the kitchen scissors when we were on Ascension Island!
