Totally not curl related, but I need to rant!!!  I work for a City Council, and I am sure you are aware councils are having to make big cuts.  We had a consultancy firm in to access the admin jobs angry  and they have decided that my post should be half time (from being 37 hours a week).  No idea how they came to this conclusion as I have more than enough work to keep me busy (twice over!).  My boss is fighting this, but I have to accept that come January I will be out of a job, as I can’t afford to go part time downer  The council are depending on voluntary redundancies to to make the cuts, so I should still have a job (they will have to redeploy me), but not necessarily what I am doing at the moment.  I love my job and the team I work with!

Ahhhhh!  So annoyed.  Sorry for the rant, but needed to get it out of my system!

Emma.

sorry to hear about it Emma and its totally not fair. I don’t know how places can just change peoples hours and jobs at will.  Doesn’t seem right to me.

downer I sympathise completely Emma. I too have been made redundant in May of this year (I have 2 part time jobs, or rather DID have!) I’m a cleaner for a living and because the firm I worked for wanted to cut back on money, I was first out of the door! It really sucks when they say “sorry, but you do understand, don’t you?” I wanted to scream “no, I b****y well don’t!” I’ve applied for jobs, but they either (a) don’t get back to you or (b) the application forms want to know your whole life story, and after the trouble of filling them in, they still don’t get back to you, lol!

Good luck, and I hope you get to keep your hours (and job!)

Best wishes x.  smile

Thanks girls!  I know there are a lot of others out there in the same position downer

One possible good thing, hubby said about looking at jobs outside of the council, which I did last night, and have found a perfect one which would suit me down to the ground (I have all the requirements and then some!), and it is a lot more money a year than I am earning at the moment grin I will be spending my weekend filling out the application form LOL!  Fingers crossed.

Really sorry to hear about your struggle Proudcurlygirl.  I have been made redundant twice before in the past, but luckily never really struggled to find another job (the longest I have been unemployed is six weeks!), but in this day and age not easy to do.  I’m not holding out too much hope for the new post I am applying for, but you never know!  Got to keep trying smile Hope you get something soon!  Hubby was unemployed for over a year after redundancy in 2009, and it was a hard year red face He’s working again now, but on minimum wage, so massive drop in wages.  Better than nothing though, and it killed him having nothing to do.

All the best,

Emma.

Hi Ashley,

The closing date was yesterday, so hoping I should hear something next week!  Also went for another post, and the closing date was today, so ditto!  The first job has an assessment day on 2nd December, so if I don’t hear anything by 1st Dec, I know I won’t have been shortlisted!!!

Thanks for asking, I will keep you posted!

Emma.

PS Have a good weekend!

Good news!  I have been invited to the assessment day for the job I applied for cheese  It’s next Friday.  Really wasn’t sure I would get shortlisted, as although I have loads of experience in a similar role, I didn’t have Maths at C grade GCSE (which was listed as essential), and didn’t have previous managerial experience (I currently work in admin, although at a high level).  They were obviously impressed enough with my application to over look this though!

I do know there is still a chance I may not get the job, but at least that is one hurdle over and done with!  I’m usually pretty good at interviews, and they will be assessing IT skills, as well as analytical and report writing skills, all of which I am strong in.  Just depends what the other candidates are like.  Fingers crossed!

Thanks so much to every one for your good wishes!  Actually went out today and bought a suit jacket for the interview (I already have a dress I can wear with it), and even better it was half price in a sale!  A good suit jacket always comes in handy smile We have a smart/casual dress code at work, so needed something a bit smarter!!

Am busy reading up about the company, and reading a fascinating book on Sheltered Housing Good Practice LOL!  The job is for a Tenancy Insight Manager, and the company mainly deal with sheltered housing.  Have good experience of this in my present job (and the company is one of our present providers, so know a lot about them already), but doesn’t hurt to brush up a bit on things smile My current manager appreciates why I am looking else where for work, and is very knowledgeable, so will get him to give me some advice and tips for the assessment day!

Not sure how quickly I will know if I have been successful, but hopefully it will only be a day or two.  Will let you know how it goes!

Take care,
Emma.

Oh god, tomorrow is the big day!  Not done an interview for 6 years, so am quite nervous!!

Outfit is washed and ironed, shoes have been cleaned, even buffed my nails LOL!  The little things always help with confidence, even if no one else notices smile Am co-washing curls tomorrow, so they should be looking their best!

So hope I get this job, if only so I will have a bit more money to spend in the Emporium LOL !!!!!!!

Curly end of wavy. I get chunky ringlets and some elongated S shapes.  Fairly dense, medium texture, medium porosity.

Rotation is key for me.  Get on well with most Curl Junkie products especially CQ, CIAB, PP for stylers, Hard hold gel on top; usually BRHG.  Also CJ protein treatments.
Other stuff B&A Gel, EO conditioners, GFRS, Hairveda Sitrinnillah, Joico K-Pak reconstruct, Afroveda TT and CL butters.

Well, the day seemed to go well!  The interview was pretty painless (only struggled with one answer (IT related)), but got there in the end!  The group session was good, and I think I showed I was capable.  I will know by the end of Monday if I have been successful, so fingers crossed!
