Hi curlyhairmich, thank you for the well wishes.

Hi lucyprimrose, I’m taking my painkillers regulary but the pain seems to be the same.  I’m taking 8 of 2 different strength painkillers 4 times per day every 6 hours.  I can’t take any more in a day.  The doctors increased the dose in hospital.  I don’t want to be living on painkillers forever though.  I really don’t want to go back into hospital before I see the consultant.  I really don’t know what to do.

Hi lucyprimrose, I hope so because it’s really painful.  I didn’t sleep very well last night.  I was crying most of the night.  I’m exhausted.  I feel really sick that I’m heaving and got a bowl next to me just in case.  I have only another week left until I see the consultant.  I hope I can cope until then.

Hi everyone,

I haven’t been on here for a while.

I’m still waiting for my pre op assessment for the surgery.  I’ve been in and out of hospital.  I had a really bad reaction to a new tablet and thought I was going blind and couldn’t hardly talk to tell the nurses what was wrong.  I had a burning pain in my chest, bleeding from my ear lobe, itching with a rash, dizzy, vomitting, and diarherra.  My consultant is thinking I have high blood pressure and pulse because it was checked earlier this week and it was very high.  I thought I was going to be admitted this week after my consultant examined me.  My consultant is concerned about my blood pressure and pulse being up.  My blood and urine tests are always abnormal as well.  This surgery is the only option I have left.  My consultant has given me stronger dose of co-codamol 30/500mg to take because I haven’t been sleeping with the pain.  My consultant thinks I have nerve damage and well as scar tissue.  I haven’t slept in my own bed since the appendectomy.  My consultant is going to do fasting blood tests before the surgery.  I need to get stronger and make sure my blood pressure and pulse goes back to normal before my surgery.  My surgery is going to take 45 minutes to get rid of scar tissue.  I’m dreading of the pain I’m going to be in after anaesthetic wears off.

I’ve put my hair in cornwrows so that I don’t have to deal with my hair at the moment.  I’m just moisturising with aloe vera gel and water mix or tresemme naturals oil and water mix every few days.  I wash my hair when I feel up to doing it.  My hair is getting thinner because of the painkillers I’ve been taking.

Hi everyone,

Just a update.  I was rushed into hospital 3 times.  6 weeks ago with pain all on my right side. Three weeks after with the same pain.  Then last week with rectal bleeding during and was in agony.  The toilet was filled with bright red blood and couldn’t see the bottom of the bowl.  It’s never happened to me before.  I was so frightened that I showed it to my mother.  She rang the hospital and spoke to a doctor and they said to bring me in.  I was in a wheelchair because the pain was so bad I couldn’t hardly walk.  The nurse gave me painkillers (Co-codamol) and didn’t touch the pain then they decided to admit me because I was crying in pain and couldn’t move off the trolley.  I thought I was going to pass out and coke on my own vomit if I moved.  I was vomiting (blood streaked) as well.  As soon as I got on the ward they gave me more painkillers and it still didn’t help with the pain.  I was given oramorph and this didn’t help either.  I was pressing the buzer every hour because of the pain.  I was still vomiting and couldn’t eat either.  I was given something to stop the bleeding.  They finally changed my painkillers again 2 days later.  I was beginning to feel better.  I’m taking about 7 medicines now.  These medicine’s all help with the pain I have.  My pain is under control now.  The doctors think I have a blood disorder.  I had a nosebleed and I’ve never had nosebleeds before in hospital.  I was discharged on Wednesday.

I’ve only got a few weeks left until my surgery.

Sorry to hear things are still so bad.  Sounds like there is alot of complicated stuff going on, hope they can get it worked out and stabilised for you soon.  Best wishes and best of luck with your surgery.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I washed and deep conditioned my hair.  I cornrowed the front of my hair and plaited the back.  I don’t think I’ll want to do my hair after the surgery.  I’m taking alot of painkillers and taking tablets to stop my stomach lining being irritated by how many tablets I’m taking.  I’m taking 7 tablets 3/4 times a day.  This combination suits me better.  I’m having surgery tomorrow to find out the cause.  I hope this surgery improves my symptoms.  This is the last time I’ll be eating before my surgery.  I’m can’t eat or drink anything except a small amount of water when I take my painkillers.

I’ll be using witch hazel with cotton wool and dabbing it to clean my scalp and spray my hair with my conditioner and oil mix.  I’ll be using my root2tip moisturizer for my ends.  I’m glad I’ve got a sink with a toilet downstairs because of the post op pain I’m not looking forward to it.  I probably get stuck if I walk upstairs so I’m not even going to think of climbing the stairs for a while.

Hi everyone,

I hope you all have had a nice christmas.

I’ve had my surgery on the 6th of this month and had a few complications.  I had an bowel obstruction that was looped, kinked and twisted the wrong way and adhesions/endo sticking it together after the previous surgery.  I’m still having problems but at least I can walk properly now.  It still hurts to walk and go to the toilet.  I’m waiting for a endoscopy.  I had a sore throat and ended up being a bad chest infection and I’m recovering from having septic tonsillitis.  My scars are healing well.  My dressings are off and managed to put my naval jewellery back in.  I don’t like having a cold especially after surgery.  It hurts my stomach every time I cough.  I’m hoping to be off the painkillers soon after I get over this cold.

I’ve changed what I use that’s in my signature and suits my hair better.  The shampoo isn’t drying.  Also they have changed the packaging to a pump version for a litre.  I think I’ll stick to these now.

Hope things are better for your healthwise in 2013. Glad to hear that you have got a good routine going for your hair smile

Thanks curlyhairmich,

I hope that 2013 will be prosperous for you.  Sorry for the late reply.

My stomach pains have been milder than they have been.  They do get worse at the end of the month though.  I passed out last month with the pain.  I walk around when my pain is bad as I can’t sit but I can’t for long because I’ll pass out.  Even at night lying down I’ve passed out.  The pain has spread to my left hip.  I’ve added more leafy green vegetables like kale and fennel and I already eat spinach.  I’ve managed to cut out red meat in 2011.  Last year I cut out dairy because I think I’m lactose intolerant.  I’ve eaten chocolate and has upset my stomach.  Instead of milk I have rice, soya, or oat milk and at the beginning it was hard to get used to the taste.  I’m going to try to cut out chicken this year then next year fish.  I’ve cut out gluten and wheat because it makes my symptoms flare up.  I take fish oil to make sure I still get fish oils when I give it up completely.  I have been feeling tired alot lately.  I think I’m anaemic.  I think I need a blood test again.  Plus I haven’t healed properly because still have a bruise where the drip was.  I found a lump on my shin of both legs which are painful but no redness so it can’t be from when I pass out.  If it’s still painful or grown within the next few days I will go to my GP.  I only noticed the painful lumps 2 weeks ago.

I just need some protein conditioners to use.  I hope garnier fructis sleek and shine conditioner works and dont’t have a reaction with my sensitive scalp.  It’s on offer for a £1 in Asda.  I used to use it when I was younger.  The ingredients have changed but I hope it makes my fine to medium strands stronger.  I need a strong protein conditioner.  I think my hair likes protein but will deep condition my hair just in case.

I did make a protein conditioner with coconut milk, banana, olive oil, and vegetable oil in a blender.  I left it on about 6 hours with a plastic bag over it.  My hair felt very soft but I think I needed a stronger protein.  I’ve put in a container then put it in the freezer now.
