Probably a bit early to ask, but has any one who is 3b/3c tried the Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo?  I know others here have said that it can be drying, but from reading the posts it seems to be from people with Afro hair.  Any European hair types tried it?  Still on the search for the perfect moisturising cleanser!

For European / Afro hair, I’m going to recommend Elucence moisture balancing shampoo.
This stuff is so moisturising that you could almost go without a conditioner afterwards.

I love this stuff so much that I had ordered the litre size bottles from curlmart in the states in 2006, and in 2012 years after I’m still on the second bottle! It smells so good, like peaches plus I’m so glad to hear that it’s now available in the uk online.
I must confess that I mise this stuff like liquid gold, but that’s easy because a little goes a long way

2nd favourite is cheaper Swarzkopf oil nutritive shampoo which is good, more readily available & cheaper, not as moisturising as Elucence but more moisturising than most main stream high street shampoos I have tried.

Iv tried da curl enhancing smoothy….but it didnt wrk for type 4 hair, it jus sat ontop of my hair/didn’t absorb, my daughters hair is type3/4a n it did da same on her hair too….. :-(, I really wanted to like it.[/quote.

Hello Kinky,

I am also a type 4( LOIS classification i’m an OS, VERY coily bigger than pen springs but smaller than a pencil’s diameter, and some wavy sections). i bought the smoothie last week and used it after washing and deep conditioning my hair. i used it on very wet hair even though the instructions say use on damp hair. i LOVED IT. it gave me very good definition and it is very soft. i then mixed some with ecostyler gel and it was even better. today im wearing a wash and go and since tehn have gotten a lot of compliments on my hair. i would be interested to know how you used it… perhaps there is an ingredient in it that your hair doesnt agree with?? Its so interesting how things work differently on different people. try it again on damp or wet hair( if you didnt the first time around, it may work better)

Hey Triple A,
In terms of long-lasting moisture how would you say the curl enhancing smoothie compared to Qhemets heavy cream? A day? two days? How long did your hair stay moist after applying the smoothie on wet hair?

yes, i think its probably due to how you applied it.

hey ketchup,

well for me, No other creamy moisturiser compares to the qhemets heavy cream in terms of the fact that i can get away with using it twice in a week and would have moisturised hair all week.

The smoothie definately gave me moisture onsoaking wet hair, you could really tell there was a lot of oil in it. i made sure i was generous with it. As of this afternoon ( after 4pm) my hair still feels moist and soft. the next time i wash my hair , i will just use the smoothie and not add a styler until the next day. That way i will know how long the moisture lasts when its used alone. i definately do like it though and i think if i use it with gel and apply alittle castor oil on top of dried styledd hair, it will be even better. i think its a good alternative for qhemets ( for me).
Personally, i would say that this DOES work on type 4 hair. what probably matters is how porous the hair is, in which case some may not find it moisturising enough( it does contain alot of oils so if your hair likes oil you are sorted) personally i noticed i can use castor oil on very wet hair then apply gel and i am fine for a day or maybe 2.

Anyone already using the Yucca and Baobab range? Does it really thicken and how well does it moisturise?

Thank you, kinky. I was also thinking of using the conditioner as a leave-in underneath the mist.

I have the yucca conditioner and really like it. I have 3a coloured hair which is very dry. This has loads of slip for me and seeems to be moisturising for my hair. I also like it as a leave in. Not sure about thickening qualities yet and my hair is pretty thick already. Choose it because it had some good reviews.

I got the curl enhancing smoothie.
Tried it on wet (freshly washed hair- like I do with all my new products initially because I like to start with a clean “slate”)
Firstly
I did not like the dull tinge it gave my hair and I’m pretty light handed with products despite the fact that my hair just soaks up products
I was not wowed by it. It did not give me lasting softness and moisture, my hair just looked at me and went “and so?”
My ends stayed ‘poofy’ and did not curl up. It just felt as if there was hardly anything on?

I tried it again for a braid out, it gave some hold and light moisture, but nothing to wow me and nothing better than the results I can get with castor alone or castor and conditioner mix.
