Hi everyone,

I’ve got SD and lately its been ten times worse. My scalps terrible and sooo itchy - I haven’t changed what I’m using so I’m assuming it might be the time of year or hormones/stress.

Does anyone take any supplements to help it ? I thought, as alot of the SD shampoos contain zinc, it might be worth a try. I read somewhere that vitmain B6 might also help. The thing is alot of the info is contradictory- one site was banging on about how fantastic aloe vera was - but the next article on the same site said to avoid aloe in skincare !! :o(

I’m also developing what looks like red rough dermatitis patches on my face. Does anyone else get these and how do you deal with them/what’s your skincare routine ?

Thanks in advance for any replies
xx

I still have a huge problem with it, but here’s what I find helps most:

- fish oil capsules
- Nat Phos tissue salts (New Era)
- neat glycerine on my scalp and behind my ears (I have such a problem there - I could scratch my ears off!)

I find aloe vera terrible for my scalp.

Hi pelicano - I hear ya, my scalps soo itchy today I can’t even think straight.

Noted re: the aloe. I’ve never heard of the Nat Phos salts -Where do you buy the salts ? Are they tablets ?

I can’t believe it looks like I’ve got to deal with it on my scalp and face. E45 just isn’t helping the face patches. I’ll definitely try some glycerin tonight to see if that helps. If all else fails I suppose I’ll end up with some sort of steroid cream from the doctor :o(

This is what I mean: http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=1391&prodid=1095&sid=0

Another thing I meant to say is that diet has helped me - vastly cutting down dairy and gluten, and having goat milk and butter rather than cow.

I can definitely relate to the desperation, but personally I’d never bother with steroids, as you can’t use them all the time anyway. :(  With something like SD, it just seems to sit there under the surface and all you can do is try to keep it under control rather than ever get rid of it.

Best of luck, and let me know if I can help at all. x

Pelicano - you are absolutely and categorically a star !! I think I love glycerin. Its the best 84p I’ve ever spent.

OK I had a rather slimy looking hairline after plastering it over the itchy bits but it really helped. I’m going to play about with it as a spray on my scalp before I dry my hair - figured it may help stop some of the dryness forming…......

I then got bored and googled glycerin and read lots of reviews about using it with water as a moisturiser. That worked a treat too. I have very sensitive skin and this morning my skin looked great, the dry patches are improved too.

You’re right about the steroids I’ve pretty much always avoided that option too. I live in hope that one day the dreaded SD will just disappear (I’m definitely in denial, lol)

Thanks again
x

Oh I’m so pleased!  Glycerine was the best discovery I ever made (can’t claim the credit for it - I read it online somewhere).  I dread to think how bad my ears would be if I couldn’t slather it on behind them twice a day.  Whenever my hairline or eyebrows are bad I slap it on there too.  It also seems to work well putting it on my scalp overnight before washing it, or even just a couple of hours before washing.

I even keep my bottle next to the bed, in case I wake up itchy in the night!

Hello ladies, I suffer from this too. I read recently that drinking aloe Vera juice daily helps. I brought some from H&B today. Will report back.
