Thanks MoFro! \O/

I have officially worn twists for a whole month! Er, actually I took them out after two weeks to detangle and then redid them (any more than that would result in knot city! ). I’ve missed my loose hair so much (tentatively known as Bob). I’m in the process of taking them down (its very daunting but I have movies to watch) but won’t have time to do anything do them until the weekend so tomorrow is a hat day.

I’m trying to get more self-reliant styling wise (at the very least, learn how to flat twist) so I’ve been slowly amassing a legion of youtube vids to practice with.

Attached is a pic of the twists earlier today, finally beaten into submission by temperamental rain today. Ugh, need to stop pulling all-nighters sick

Thanks Mich! Did the obligatory stretching length test, hair at the back is almost touching shoulder and the front is mostly at my chin (except for the part thats at my mouth ) grin
Its much easier to take out in my opinion, I just gently pry the two strands apart and they loosen up pretty quickly, I guess the time it takes depends on the density of your hair and how small you make the twists.

“Ah! Your hair is curly!” my mum exclaimed when she saw my hair last week. I was like (defensively) “Yeah, thats what it does?”  confused

I guess I could understand her surprise because I always brush out all the coils (I spritz with water and add a bit of moisturiser and go to town with my Denman), as a way of evening out all the different textures (I’m really obsessed with things that match) but I’ve been really busy at Uni (second year is no joke! I was under the mistaken impression that I could just coast along and work furiously in the final year… I’m so dumb surprised ).

Not really been doing much; wearing it loose (except for the initial wash day) and spritzing with Donna Marie’s MiraCurl Moisture Mist, which is divine! I was saving it for the summer but I had to relinquish my TW Protective mist to my mum who is wearing her hair out now (shes really bad with taking care of her hair so I help out anyway I can).

Its got a THICK consistency like the Protective Mist so I dilute it with filtered water (far too cheap for distilled you see) in my sole surviving spray bottle (from Sally’s), (my household is really into DIY which in this case means ‘Damage-it-yourself’ so all the spray bottles I got when I first went natural have become causalities in the war of…in-door gardening) and then I spritz at night, section my hair (with ouchless holders) into two puffs and lightly oil my ends then I wrap my scarf ‘round .

Easiest.night time.routine.EVER! In the morning and lightly spritz again then shake and go and with this technique, (most of) my hair has never felt better! Its soft and NOT sticky or greasy (a balance I struggle with) so I love it.

Unfortunately, the hair at my nape doesn’t; its gone SUPER dry! . Its where my hair has a looser curl and the texture is very fine and smooth, all the rich moisturisers that the kinkier hair digs seems like kryptonite to it (its funny because last year the roles were reversed)  shut eye

I can usually get it to behave by adding a tiny bit of pure coconut oil to it but I’m on the look out for a permanent fix.

I am currently using:
Donna Marie’s MiraCurl Moisture Mist
Afroveda Totally twisted ginger and almond butter (Qhemet has failed me! You must not!)
BeijaFlor Naturals Licorice Root Scalp Elixir (only thing that stops my scalp itchyness)
Curl Junkie Leave-in conditioner (surprisingly, performed better than KC Knot today for me so I gave it to my little sister, to compliment the custard already she has)
I deep conditioner weekly with Curls hair tea/AOWC/AOHSR and EVOO. Works for me.

Thats all for now. I’m post pictures soon!

p.s. I tried the Shea moisture leave-in conditioner and boy, was that a mission. The application was difficult (NO slip) and I found the results mediocre (tried using it three separate times). I was gutted because I really wanted to have a staple I could get on the ground (gave it to my older brother).

p.p.s: I’ve just seen the new additions to the CE. Komaza care! On our Emporium! *flails*  Must order now!

Kudos to KeishaJo!

You’re much kinder and far more sensible than I am, giving your hair products to your brother…I got some gel on my desk that has dimethicone in it…

But I paid £5, so I’ll be darned if I’m letting it go for anyone! >_<

P.S. How do you keep your twists in for so long without extra fussyness or the urge to take them out? I’ve have mine in for a week and I’m bored of them already….*Sigh* I wish I could get paid to do my own hair…

LOL! I don’t mind giving my brother stuff ‘cause hes usually the one that volunteers to wait around for my packages to be delivered if I’m at Uni. Keeps him happy and me from having to trek to the post office, delivery depot or pay extra for re-delivery.

I try out youtube hairstyles for twists, keep myself really busy so my attention don’t wander to my hair and all my dressy hair accessories get a workout (I would dare try to use them on my loose hair) as the bulk of my hair is greatly reduced but by the end of the first week, I start itching to take them out but a sharp word from my sister (who likes to remind me of the blood, sweat and tears she put into them) stays my hand ‘til the second week.

I don’t know how people can leave them in for a month at a go! Detangling is a pain after two weeks (even with the water spritzing and brushing through sections with my denman):gulp:

So I was cleaning up my hoard of hair products (have to get rid off stuff before I can buy more right? lol) and discovered I still have a bit of henna and cassia left so I decided to use them up, and at the same time test out my Califa care kit (that arrived today! <3), I’m just prepping at the moment (my bloody comb has disappeared on me!) but so far everything smells divine!

I’ll do a review soon! Wish me luck grin
