So I am still being constantly puzzled by my hair LOL It is 2C hair, BUT it seems not to behave in the way most wavies hair behaves. In particular it really doesnt seem to like protein, it is seriously dry, it doesnt get weighed down or overconditioned easily, it loves heavier condish (AOHR) etc….
It is really Coarse and dense, but this seems at odds with it’s curl pattern (eg normally the tighter the curl pattern the drier the hair etc…)
So what is up with my hair??? Is it just weird?? tongue rolleye
Am I some sort of hair anomally , or have I just totally misunderstood my hair???  confused

The reason that your hair doesn’t like protein is because it’s texture is coarse. Coarse hair can get brittle when exposed to too much protein.
Everyone’s hair behaves differently, and it’s a good thing that your hair doesn’t get weighed down easily - you’re lucky.
Is there any particular reason why it’s dry - have you had any colour treatments?

Yeah it has been badly abused i the past LOL
I colour at home, sometimes permanent, sometimes semi permanent. This is a necessary evil to combat the evil greys LOL
Also I have straightened it with straightening irons for a couple of years - oops!
It is a lot less dry since starting CG definitely, and my AOHR has definitely banished the dryness, but it does seem to need a lot of moisture - I guess that is down to a combination of damage and it being coarse!
And yes you’re right, not getting weighed down is a good thing - gives me one less thing to worry about!
It just seems quite atypical as it doesnt seem to “fit” the “wavy” profile - but I guess as you say everyones hair is different!

I don’t believe there is such a thing as a wavy profile! You’re a wavy with coarse hair and are showing typical coarse hair tendencies e.g. not liking protein and needing lots of moisture. I’m a medium textured wavy and can use just about anything in moderation but can’t overdose on anything - again fairly typical for medium hair texture.

I don’t think we should expect our hair to behave a certain way just because we’re wavies, we’re not that different from the curlies! LOL
