Hi,

Is anyone familiar with using the LOIS curl classification system?  Its supposed to be descriptive of the shape of the curl as well as the tightness, and also tries a bit more to categorise the texture.  I think its best used alongside the type 2, 3, 4 and could help more people compare hair and recommend products and techniques.

Is it ok if I post a couple of links up?

Signature

AW Class: 3a, some random 2c   LOIS Class:  S(O), fine and thready
Low to medium porosity, likes protein
Co wash - FIN seaweed
Conditioner - Naked detox, AOGPB
Leave-in - KCKT / Recoil (although not together!)
Deep Condition - Crown pride, Naked rescue

Styling - Fuzzy duck gel, almost exclusively
SOTC - 1 drop of jojoba oil

Cool!  I’m still looking into it, but here’s what I’ve found so far.  It does seem that Type 3c to Type 4c would have better use of this.  So maybe not for me but I’m going to give it a go anyway!

http://www.tytecurl.com/v02/hairtypes.htm

And for an alternative view on hair typing…...

http://thenaturalhaven.blogspot.com/2009/11/readers-mail-lois-hair-typing-system.html

As soon as I do the assessments I’ll update my sig to include the new information and see if anyone else want to jump on board.

I might need to re-categorise my hair type from 2c after 3 wks of following a CG routine.  When I joined the forum it was mostly wavy but now I definitely see curls developing, mostly round the hairline.  I’ve replaced my avatar & included a couple of other pics to give an idea, although my camera seems to have difficulty actually focusing properly on my hair for some reason angry  I’m thinking maybe some 3a or b in there too?

Bit worried that I seem to have less hair on top now for some reason downer (could be an age/stress thing)  although it may be because the hair is falling into clumps now.  Just want it to GROW quicker ha haaa !!
