Hello, does anyone know of a curly hair salon in Cumbria? Maybe Manchester would be the nearest as it’s a bit out of it up here LOL.

Hi Sazzer,
I was wondering if you ever found a good hairdresser in Cumbria?  I’ve lived here for nearly two years now and still haven’t ventured into a hairdressers yet- too scared!  I really need to find somewhere, been trimming it myself but it’s looking pretty long and straggly now.
I was wondering about trying the Aveda Salon in Barrow but I’d guess it’s fairly pricey.
Would love to hear back if you found anything and, if I ever take the plunge, I’ll be sure to let you know how I get on!

Hi Cobester,
No I’ve still not found a good curly hair dresser in Cumbria, especially Barrow where I live and I’ve tried all the hairdressers here over the years. I’ve now started to trim my own hair following the CG method in the book and bought a good pair of scissors. It’s been over 12 months now since I was at a hairdressers and I’m now happy with my hair as I’m trying to grow it, hairdressers always cut too much off!
I just thought it might be nice to have it styled, think I’ll wait till it’s a bit longer and then maybe go to a city somewhere.
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Sazzer,
Thanks so much for the reply.  I think I’ll be getting my scissors out again for the next trim, it could do with a bit of a reshape so maybe I just need to get a little braver with my snipping!  If I ever do get round to going to a hairdresser here I promise I’ll post a review!
Thanks again.

I had my hair cut by Rachel at Michelle’s salon on Rawlinson Street in Barrow last week. I told her I was getting irritated with the layers but trying to grow then length and was getting annoyed with it not hanging right now I was trying to grow it past my shoulders.  She offered to cut it wet or dry and I opted for dry as I had never had it done that way before (and I know that is what the curly girl method recommends).  I was not disappointed - it is now bouncy and has volume in all the right places!  I am very satisfied and would highly recommend!!  Good luck!

Hi Golden35, thank you so much for the reply and sorry for taking so long to get back to you.
I’ve made a note of the stylist and salon, I recently clippered all my hair off (I want to stop dyeing it and grow out my natural ‘highlights’!) but will definitely give them a go when I have enough hair to bother!
Thanks again, it will make such a difference to know in advance that a hairdresser will be gentle with my curls!
