Hi everybody,
First of all, sorry for my language, as my first is French! So sorry for the mistakes and thanks in advance for reading me despite of that! Curlies, I am calling to your knowledge and experience, as I am looking for an SLS free shampoo… Indeed, the Naked one left my lengths lovely but my roots frizzy, the whole thing looking flat and dull…. Sls free happy hair days shampoo did the same and Tresemme naturals makes my hair flat. However when I wash with Johnson’s baby shampoo, my hair becomes manageable et light… The problem is I have quite a lot of hair loss, and therefore lost quite as much volume to my hair because of that the last 6 months. I am pretty sure that this harsh SLS harm my scalp and would like to avoid it. I tried co washing with Tresemme conditionner, but if my hair gets soft and lovely, I loose all my curls, so it is not for me. Any suggestion, curlies?

I have the same problem sometimes. its like the curls are just too delicate and go flat if there’s too much moisture.
Maybe your hair needs more protein?
I think you could try a good alkaline shampoo (no sls) to open up the cuticles like liquid black soap http://www.akuawood.co.uk/product.php?productid=123&cat=2&page=1 and then a conditioner for reviving curls and volume like Spa Magik Dead sea scalp mud.
Most of the shampoos on the emporium are sls free and made for curly hair so they shouldn’t leave it flat.

Thanks a lot for the advice liisa! Actually what surprises me the most is that I get better hair, light and all with the Johnsons baby shampoo full of sulfates… all the others make a frizzy mess to my roots. What a mystery to resolve wink And yes, my hair doesn’t like too much conditionner, but absolutely loves coconut oil, which is mosturizing but doesn’t make it flat!!!

Just checked the black liquid soap, sounds really nice, especially considering you can use it as a body wash too! Thanks for the tip Liisa!

Hey !

I’ve just started cowashing. I noticed that alot of finer haired curlies tend to use a low-poo (shampoo without silicone or sulphates) as well otherwise their hair gets weighed down. Mine does.

Why don’t you try using your shampoo every few washes and see if that helps. Otherwise you may just have hair that prefers shampoo. I think you should just do what works for you.

In terms of High Street shampoos:-

You can get SLS free shampoos in Boots- Naked range.
In superdrug there’s a range called Samy which is SLS free. (never tried it though)
The rainforest range in the Bodyshop (again never tried them)
Also, I just got a dr organics shampoo from holland and barratt (trying the manuka honey one). It was ok but slightly drying. To be honest I think most shampoos are a little bit.

Hope that helps - you can check out a list of cg items on the forum too. Think its in the intro bit.

Thank you cupcake queen, I will have a look on the products you mentionned! I think I will give another go to co washing as well, with some different conditionner… Tresemme naturals wasn’t the best for me!

Hello everyone! A little update smile So I tried co washing with Morrison’s fruit as it is a light conditionner but if my hair felt definitely clean and soft, the curls definition and crown frizz were both really bad!!! So back to my Johnson’s baby shampoo followed by coconut and almond boots ingredients intensive… a bit drying, but it is as if my curls needed to be a bit dried to get a better definition… To be continued as I have bought today a Dr organic shampoo. Wanted the manuka one as it has the best reviews, but I hated the smell! So I have taken the royal jelly one. I will try tomorrow, let’s see what’s gonna happen!
