Ok so when i started doing curly girl nearly two years ago i had chemical damage and my hair was much shorter around shoulder length and now its waist length my waves have all but gone someone suggested this is just because my hair is in better condition which seems a bit silly to me. I thinking it could be the henna that i have been using because my waves were previously a lot tighter i used to brush a fair bit to, do you think i should do a finger combing experiment for a while?

i have also noticed when i have a strong hold gel in my hair it definitely holds a bit longer i have tried everything to get the texture back in my hair to because its very very soft i think that might be why the waves aren’t holding i’ve tried co washing again and shampoo to dry it out but i’m at a bit of a loss unless i dry it with heat i don’t get those waves anymore.

Any suggestions?

The picture below is damp just washed hair slept on without product .

It could be that its grown alot and the added weight is pulling the curl out. If my hair grows too long (and its v.long too) the curl just gets pulled out. Even an extra few cm’s too long and wham, curls disappear and turn very straggly.

Also, what’s your regimen and hair type ? I can’t DT as my hair gets too soft. It might be that it’s overconditioned or in fact needs protein. Its hard to tell on the info.

Thanks for trying to help i have been classed as a 2b now instead of a 2c so they have dropped quite a bit i just got a new gel today hoping that might help lock the wave in a bit more, i tried scrunching last night with some aloe vera gel in just washed hair (dr organics) and i got plenty of wave definition but my hair looked dry,dry .

So next time i wash i’m going to do a co wash with inecto as that’s a moisture conditioner and try this http://www.boots.com/en/Umberto-Giannini-Scrunching-Curl-Friends-Jelly-200ml_50951/#BVRRWidgetID i have been doing CWC a lot i don’t know if thats helping or not .

UG gets quite a lot of love on the boards. Hope it works :o)

Would you consider getting a good cut to see if that takes some weight out, or getting some layers cut in ? That helped my curls alot, along with the new products. To be honest without the cut I don’t think my hair would have been half as curly as just trying new products.

Diffuser drying helps me alot too rather than air drying. It may be that it’s too conditioned - I can’t DT and have to watch that I don’t use anything too heavy.
